Ferox
The Spanish company EM&E Group (Escribano) presented the new Ferox ("Furious") 6x6 armored vehicle at the FEINDEF 2025 defense exhibition. As expected, this product will go into serial production – the developer plans to produce up to 8 machines per month or about 100 copies per year.
The base platform was created in the UAE, but by agreement with the Emirati company NIMR Automotive, the Spanish partner received all the authority for further design and production and the necessary technologies for this.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the country, as part of the modernization of the army, relied on the new BMP Dragon 8x8, but, apparently, the developer has not been able to fix the problems faced by this technique, although Ferox is officially positioned not as a competitor to the Dragon program, but as an additional platform.
At the end of 2024, information was announced in the Spanish edition of El Confidencial Digital that the colonel in charge of the Dragon project had applied for dismissal from his post after he refused to sign for the receipt of the first 11 copies, as they did not meet the requirements of the army. According to the press, the TESS Defense consortium has not transferred any of the 94 vehicles scheduled for delivery in 2024.

The development process of the new infantry fighting vehicle began in 2007 with the aim of replacing the outdated BMR M1 armored personnel carrier of the Spanish Army, as well as the VEC M1 BRDM and part of the M113 APC fleet. As a result, it was decided to create an armored vehicle based on the Piranha V from the Swiss company MOWAG. Delivery of the first 40 copies was expected in 2014, but the first 12 test samples were delivered for testing only in December 2022.
According to the contract concluded in 2020, the final purchase of 998 units is expected. The cost of the first batch of 348 copies amounted to €1.74 billion with a delivery period of 7 years. But the first 4 vehicles were handed over to the army only in April of this year.

Apparently, the developer could not cope with the problems accompanying the project, and therefore the Ministry of Defense preferred to turn to a ready-made foreign product.
