The UK has completely decommissioned the AS-90 self-propelled artillery units, doing so five years ahead of schedule. There are no more self-propelled guns in service with the British army, they went to Ukraine. This is reported by Army Technology.
The British Ministry of Defense got rid of the unsuccessful self-propelled guns AS-90, removing it from service and replacing it with Swedish wheeled self-propelled guns Archer, but this is a "temporary solution," according to London. And the decommissioned AS-90 self-propelled guns went straight to Ukraine, although there were no official reports about this. The last shooting by the British army using AS-90 took place in May last year.
According to the publication, in 2023, Britain sent 32 self-propelled guns to Ukraine out of about 80 remaining in the British army at that time. Today, there are no self-propelled guns in the army or in warehouses, their fate is unknown. There have been no official reports on the transfer or disposal, and it is impossible to dispose of about 50 self-propelled artillery installations in such a time. It is assumed that London sent them to Kiev without publicizing these supplies.
