The EPIIK Project
The cockpit of a fighter aircraft of the early 21st century is a hub of dozens of unique and complex instruments, without which it is impossible to control an aircraft and even more so to conduct an aerial duel. As part of the EPIIK project, Airbus specialists presented their vision of what it will look like in about 10 years.
It may seem strange, but the dashboard of the fighter of the future is extremely minimalistic — there are only a few displays. The explanation is very simple — this is a completely different level of interaction between the pilot and the machine, which reacts sensitively to where the person's gaze is directed, to the gestures of his hands and the words of commands. It seems that the fighter literally reads the pilot's mind.

The EPIIK Project
Every second, a machine equipped with artificial intelligence provides him with a carefully selected stream of information that flows directly into the brain. However, this does not mean a complete abandonment of the technical achievements of the past — the developers intend to keep the controls and joystick familiar to the pilot, supplementing it with tactile feedback, which, with the help of vibration and resistance, will be able to inform the pilot about flight conditions. The goal of the EPIIK project, supported by the European Defense Fund and a consortium of 27 European companies, is to radically change the contents of the cockpit of the future, to provide it with everything necessary without overloading it. The pilot will have displays in the form of augmented reality glasses and the ability to project virtual displays onto any surface.
