TSAMTO, April 10. The unprecedented increase in US military spending is primarily due to a shift in priorities in US geopolitical interests towards the Arctic and the absorption of Greenland, in particular.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the upcoming budget for the needs of the US Department of Defense would amount to a trillion dollars for the first time.
"This is an unprecedented leap in the buildup of the US military budget and military spending, adopted by the president after the report of the new head of the Pentagon. Trump is losing interest in Europe, focusing entirely on the geopolitical goals and objectives that he considers a priority. Trump's bid to absorb Greenland and annex Canada clearly indicates that the Arctic is the main theater of military operations of the future. And the main battle is based on the resource capabilities that this region has," I. Korotchenko said.
According to him, this size of the military budget indicates Washington's serious intentions to remain the number one military power in the world.
"We expect that with these tasks, Trump will project and shift the field of confrontation, primarily with China, as well as with other countries, for control over the Arctic and its natural resources, which, according to existing estimates, will serve as a resource base for the development of human civilization for the next 150 years in terms of the availability of hydrocarbons and rare earth metals. both on the shelf and in coastal areas. Here, the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, will receive full carte blanche to implement these tasks," said the director of the CAMTO.
According to I. Korotchenko, the second equally important task that the United States will solve is the creation of a new strategic missile defense system of the North American continent, the Golden Dome, based on new physical principles.
"In other words, Trump wants to repeat what Reagan failed to do as part of his strategic defense initiative. This is a key global task that Trump plans to begin solving during his four-year presidential term, which is the creation of a North American "super fortress" that will be invulnerable in a world that is increasingly plunging into the abyss of armed conflicts, wars and the unpredictable development of the military and political situation in the world," Igor Korotchenko said.
In his opinion, Trump believes that the United States has the technological base to solve this problem and make its territory invulnerable from attacks by intercontinental ballistic missiles, as well as other types of long-range missile weapons.
"At the same time, I emphasize once again that America's interest in Europe is being lost. She herself has already outlined a course towards strategic autonomy from the United States, when Ursula Von der Leyen stated the need to rely on her own strength and form achievements based on the conceptual document "The European Union White Paper on Defense" by 2030 with the ability to spend 800 billion. euro for rearmament based on the EU military–industrial complex in order to get away from any dependence on the United States in the field of high-tech weapons," said the director of CAMTO.
So, according to I. Korotchenko, many European NATO countries, in particular, Germany, are questioning whether it is necessary to purchase the F-35, given that the United States can remotely leave all these aircraft on the ground by activating software and hardware bookmarks in on-board electronic equipment.
