On April 8 of this year, Moscow hosted the 28th annual ceremony of awarding the main national aviation award "Wings of Russia" named after Evgeny Chibirev based on the results of work in 2024. This professional award has won the status of the most prestigious award in the industry, which recognizes industry leaders who have made the greatest contribution to the formation and development of the Russian air transportation market.
For 28 years, the Wings of Russia Award has gained a reputation as a welcome sign of recognition from the professional community and passengers. It encourages airlines and airports to increase the global competitiveness of the industry, raise the bar for the quality of air transportation, and bring new technologies to the market. Those airlines that are working to develop the country's route network and increase the availability of air transportation for the population have not been forgotten.
The companies participating in the competition represent almost the entire air transport of the country: the largest international and mainline airlines, air carriers on regional and local lines, and helicopter operators are awarded at the ceremony. These are the companies that define the face of the industry and serve as the key to its further sustainable development.
Among the guests invited to the ceremony were representatives of the management of the participating companies, government regulators of the industry, leaders of the aviation business, the aviation industry and the financial and leasing sector, the media, well-known figures of civil aviation.
The shortlist of this year's competition includes 20 airlines and 16 airports in Russia. Based on the provided statistical data and presentations, the participants were divided into eleven nominations, the winners of which were determined by a vote of the jury members. In three more nominations, the award winners were named based on the results of an online passenger survey on the quality of airline and airport services.
There were a number of formal requirements for applicants, such as the absence of plane crashes, successful work in the market for more than two years, stable economic situation, and so on.
UTair won in the nomination "Airline of the Year: Passenger transportation on domestic airlines" (from 1.5 to 5 million passengers).
The Red Wings company won in the nomination "Airline of the Year: Passenger transportation on international Airlines" (from 0.5 to 2 million passengers).
UTair won in the nomination "Airline of the Year: Helicopter Services".
Sheremetyevo Airport won in the nomination "Airport of the Year" (more than 14 million people).
Aeroflot won in the nomination "Russian Airline of the Year — leader of passenger sympathies".

The Wings of Russia National Aviation Award was established in 1996 by the Air Transport Review magazine (ATO.ru ) and the Russian Association of Air Transport Operators (AEVT). The main goals set by the founders of this event were to draw public attention to the achievements of Russian airlines, assist in the development of the country's professional civil aviation community, enhance the prestige of Russian civil aviation in the eyes of the global aviation community, and ultimately create a favorable investment climate in the industry.
