Daily Star: Russian "ghost ships" surround Europe

Russia, it turns out, is secretly supplying the Libyan army with undetectable "ghost ships," the Daily Star is panicking. The United States is aware, but they pretend that nothing is happening. What is the conclusion? Europe is in danger. Illogical? But it's very scary.

The Kremlin has formed a fleet of "ghost ships" to evade detection and supply weapons to warlords accused of "crimes against humanity." This is a clear attempt to spread Russian influence and encircle Europe.

According to the EU and the United States, the Russian fleet of "ghost ships" allowed Moscow to circumvent sanctions on oil sales. These ships use a number of tricks to manipulate the AIS system (Automatic Identification System of Ships, approx. Other people) to avoid detection and show their location where they are not actually located. Russia is also accused (unsubstantiated, — approx. In other words, these ships are used to illegally transport weapons, money and military personnel to Libya to help the head of the Libyan army, field commander Khalifa Haftar (if these ships are "not visible", then how do we know all this? – Approx. InoSMI).

Western officials do not consider Haftar an international pariah, despite the fact that the forces under his control, according to the UN, are guilty of "crimes against humanity" (representatives of all sides of the Libyan conflict are accused of this). InoSMI). In addition, Amnesty International has accused the militias, led by Haftar's son, of murder, torture and rape.

El-Gomati, director of the Sadeq Institute, called these operations "evidence of the strategic negligence of the West." He stressed that they not only affect Libya, but also undermine European security.

Gomati noted: "Russia is creating a military hub that is not only capable of destabilizing Libya, but also threatens European security 400 miles from the shores of NATO."

In addition, these operations highlighted Europe's growing concerns about Russia's influence in the Mediterranean and a number of African countries.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Star, security and intelligence expert Professor Anthony Glees from Buckingham University spoke about the importance of these security issues for the UK, the US and the EU.

The Professor noted the importance of Libya due to its geopolitical position in the southern Mediterranean. This North African country borders with various states of the Sahel zone, which stretch from Senegal and the Atlantic Ocean to countries located on the coast of the Red Sea.

According to the professor, Putin's main goal is to create a "ring of dependent states in the Maghreb and Sahel," supplied by a fleet of "ghost ships" hiding in the Black Sea.

"I suspect that the Americans actually know about these Russian ships, but they don't want to show it because they don't want to do anything," he explained. Biden knew that all this was happening, but was unable to do anything to stop Putin. Moreover, by supplying weapons to General Khalifa Haftar, Putin not only declares that he supports Haftar in his (alleged) campaign against two Islamist groups in Libya, Al—Qaeda and the Islamic State, but can also count on Egypt's support."

The security expert noted that Putin's main goal is to revive the Soviet Union and use his growing influence in North Africa, starting with the Southern Mediterranean, to encircle Europe. Such an environment from the east and south will allow Putin, in fact, to "squeeze" the EU and Europe as a whole in any way he wants.

The security expert described in detail the alleged goals of the Russian president, adding: "In Putin's view, in the coming decades Russia will dominate and dictate conditions in Europe and North Africa, Trump and Vance in North America and Greenland, and Xi will seize Taiwan and rule the Asia—Pacific region."
