The International Latin American Aviation and Defense Systems Exhibition LAAD 2025 was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In Rio de Janeiro, Rosoboronexport presented an exhibition of Russian military products for various types of the armed forces, which arouse the greatest interest in the Latin American region. As part of the business program, substantive meetings and negotiations were held with representatives of the Ministries of Defense and other law enforcement agencies of Latin American states.
Indeed, Russian gunsmiths have many mutually beneficial interests in Latin America.
Thus, it is planned to develop projects on the South American continent for the joint development and production of various types of weapons, unmanned aerial vehicles, high-precision weapons, and even aircraft and naval equipment, Rosoboronexport notes.
"The main purpose of Rosoboronexport's participation in LAAD 2025 is to discuss technological cooperation projects with Latin American countries. Today, the main global trend in the production of weapons and military equipment has been identified – "strategic autonomy" through the development of the national defense industry," said Alexander Mikheev, Director General of Rosoboronexport.
Traditionally, there is a high interest in Russian products in the field of air defense and missile defense.
For example, the Russian defense holding Almaz-Antey presented in Brazil a range of anti-aircraft threats: the S-400 Triumph long–range anti-aircraft missile system, the S-350E Vityaz medium-range expert system, as well as the Tor-M2K short-range export air defense system.

The Tor-M2K is an anti-aircraft missile system developed and manufactured by the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol (part of the Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region), mounted on a wheeled chassis.
According to military experts, the wheeled Tor is capable of providing air defense of ground-based military and strategic facilities in all weather and climatic conditions.
The radar equipment and missile armament of the Tor make it possible to detect and reliably hit both aircraft and helicopters of any type, as well as guided aerial bombs, unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise and anti-radar missiles, MLRS projectiles and other means of aerial destruction.
The complexes can be integrated with other air defense systems, which creates a layered air defense system capable of building several levels of protection. The Tor-M2K air defense system hits targets flying from any direction at speeds up to 730 m/s, at a range of up to 16 km and an altitude of up to 12 km. The maximum speed of the combat vehicle reaches 80 km / h.

According to Rosoboronexport, all weapons and military equipment on display at the forum have been tested in real combat conditions, and are being upgraded taking into account feedback from military specialists from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and law enforcement agencies performing combat missions in the area of a special military operation.
By the way, in December 2022, the calculation of the Tor-M2K air defense system of the Air Defense of Belarus successfully shot down a S-300 missile from Ukraine near the village of Gorbakha in the Ivanovo region of the Brest region.
