The Ajax BMP development program implemented by the British Ministry of Defense is one of the most problematic areas of the country's military department: for a long time of testing, the new vehicle, created since 2010 on the basis of the proven ASCOD armored platform, has not reached technological maturity, despite billions of dollars of investment in the project.
It seemed that the "ice had broken" when last week the command announced its intention to receive over 180 Ajax units by the end of the year. At the same time, the initial mass deliveries of this machine to the army were supposed to begin in 2017. However, on March 27, the Ministry of Defense made some adjustments to the plans for the current year, announcing a new technical development.

We are talking about the casing for the CT40 40-mm cannon, which is equipped with infantry fighting vehicles. Allegedly, it will create a "thermal shielding" of the equipment, reducing its IR signature. At the same time, the casing will not interfere with the firing of the gun... if it ever comes to that.
At the moment, the cost of the Ajax purchase program has already amounted to £5.5 billion. As expected, another innovation will raise this bar.
