Modern warfare involves the introduction of new technological solutions. One of these innovations, which are used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is a polymer machine gun belt for PC/PCM, developed by the Ukrainian company Kharkiv Plant of Personal Protective Equipment (RAROG).
As indicated in the Military Africa publication, metal analogues are not produced either in Ukraine or in the vast majority of countries with machine guns in their arsenals. In addition to supply problems, traditional tapes have disadvantages such as heavy weight, unmasking noise when moving, corrosion, etc.

Ukrainian specialists have found a solution by developing a polymer product. The first samples were tested back in 2016, and now, judging by the video footage shown, they have gone to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The polymer machine gun belt consists of a number of links, each of which has three rings connected by a jumper. It is three times lighter than its metal counterparts, has a low cost and high production speed, emits minimal noise during transportation, is not susceptible to corrosion and has no hooks during operation.

As noted, the standard machine gun belt for PKM is supplied in solid links. This creates inconveniences when shooting, the so-called "tail". At the same time, the links of the polymer tape simply fly out along with the sleeves. The Russian defense industry offers similar solutions.

The publication notes that the development and testing process took a long time, but in the end the product went to the army and was already used by a number of units.
