Drones of various types have become an integral part of modern armed conflicts. At the same time, most military experts today consider kamikaze drones to be the main threat, which, despite their relative cheapness and ease of production, are capable of causing enormous damage to manpower, equipment, and even infrastructure.
Against this background, more and more defense companies from around the world are focusing on creating means of protection against the aforementioned UAVs. At the same time, these solutions, in addition to their effectiveness, must also be economically sound. After all, it often turns out that the ammunition destroying the drone is several times more expensive than the drone itself.
It is worth noting that one of these solutions was presented by an Israeli defense company the day before. We are talking about a lightweight, portable and adaptable system called Smash Dome.
According to the developer, the complex is designed to protect against threats posed by drones and can be used both on the ground and on various platforms, including manned and unmanned vehicles.
The basis of the Smash Dome, as stated in the release, is the Smash Hopper module, a lightweight remotely controlled weapon station (RWS) equipped with an assault rifle and a ballistic fire control system (FCS). This system provides high-precision destruction of UAVs and can integrate with command centers for automatic detection and tracking of targets.

For error-free identification of threats, the system is equipped with an active radar and a passive optical detection system that allows it to identify, classify and track targets at a distance of up to 2 km. Data on potential threats is transmitted in real time, which ensures constant monitoring and readiness for interception.

According to the developer, one of the advantages of Smash Dome is the ability to "manually control" the complex. Through the fire control system interface, operators can visually confirm targets and initiate interception with a simple command. This approach, according to the creators of these weapons, minimizes collateral damage and increases the overall effectiveness of operations, especially in densely populated areas.
The company says that Smash Dome is designed for integration on land, sea and air platforms, as well as for use at borders and strategic facilities. At the same time, the system can be easily integrated with existing command centers, which makes it a universal tool for both autonomous defense and to complement passive UAV counteraction systems.
It has not yet been announced what the cost of the new complex will be. Meanwhile, the developer claims that this tool is one of the most advanced in terms of price-effectiveness.
