The launch was coordinated through the Main Directorate of Rocket Engineering. General Chang Chang Ha of the DPRK army was appointed responsible for the tests.

In North Korean sources, the latest hypersonic missile is designated as a medium and long-range weapon (medium and longer range).

It is reported that a high-strength carbon fiber composite was used to manufacture the rocket body.

From the message:

An integrated and efficient method based on accumulated technologies has been introduced into the flight and guidance control system. Comrade Kim Jong-un expressed great satisfaction with the result of the test launch.

There is also a direct quote from the head of the DPRK:

The current test launch undoubtedly testified that we are continuously updating powerful state-of-the-art weapons, including medium- and long-range hypersonic ballistic missiles, in response to various threats from hostile forces against the security of our State at the present time. Globally, only a few countries have such a weapon system. Like the goals of all military powers, the main goal of our development of the latest hypersonic missile is to continuously strengthen the state's nuclear war deterrence forces at a high level, placing a means on the pivotal axis of strategic deterrence that provides a possible change in the situation on the battlefield, that is, weapons that no one can react to.

It is noted that the latest hypersonic ballistic missile, which the Korean army has become the owner of, is capable of overcoming "any dense missile defense system."

Information about the rocket's purpose is also being added.:

The hypersonic missile system will be designed to reliably deter any opponents in the Asia-Pacific region who may influence the security of our state.

The launch was carried out from a wheeled chassis at one of the military ranges of North Korea.
