Protective equipment is useful in the Dnieper and Primorsky regions
New Bor-M bulletproof vests have been developed in Russia, allowing the fighter to stay on the water. A ballistic package and a shock-absorbing damper made of lightweight materials give it positive buoyancy. At the same time, the main characteristics of the bulletproof vest do not deteriorate from this — it can protect against an automatic or machine-gun bullet. Experts note that such equipment will be useful in the Dnieper and Primorsky regions, where a significant part of the line of contact passes.
Bor-M is not sinking
The Bor-M bulletproof vest consists of a plate weighing 2.15–2.2 kg, which is made of boron carbide (it is a lightweight and durable material capable of stopping an automatic or machine-gun bullet), as well as a climatic damping damper and a ballistic package. The latter catches fragments from the armor plate after the ammunition hits it. In addition, it saves from a wound blow to the body, which can damage internal organs.
A climate-damping damper also protects the body and is responsible for its ventilation. The last two elements have positive buoyancy.

The combined work of these three layers allows a person in a bulletproof vest to stay afloat. The product was developed by the production and design enterprise NPP Fillin from Novosibirsk.
"You can cross rivers in these bulletproof vests," said a representative of the developer company. — A fighter won't drown in it. In case of injury, he needs to get rid of heavy loads, such as ammunition, and he will stay afloat. We have thoroughly tested the bulletproof vest, and it has confirmed its characteristics."
The protection class of the vest is BR-4. Bullets of 7.62 x 39 PS (steel bullet) and 5.45 x 39 PP (increased penetration) will not penetrate it.
It protects all vital organs. If desired, the area of anti-shatter protection can be increased by installing additional neck, shoulder, and groin protection modules.
Bor-M received a quick reset system. There is a wide evacuation loop on the back of the vest — you can attach a sling to it and drag the wounded out from under fire.
According to the developers, the design of the Bor-M does not restrict movement, allows you to wear combat belts, move around in a car and perform any physical exercises.
Bulletproof vests are already used in the military — they are supplied there by volunteers, and they are also purchased by the fighters themselves.

"Positive feedback is coming from the SVO zone," said a representative of the developer. — Recently, a fighter wrote to us, who was hit in the back by a cumulative jet. The guy is whole, alive and well. His arm was slightly burned, and the very fabric shell of the bulletproof vest was burned."
Lightweight body armor with positive buoyancy will be useful in coastal areas and areas where there are rivers, military experts say.
— Now our army is actively operating on the islands in the area of Kherson, a significant part of the line of contact goes along the Dnieper, — military expert Vasily Dandykin told Izvestia. — In these areas, our troops have to travel by boats, other watercraft, and cross the channels. And anything can happen there.
"Bor-M" for sailors and marines
The new bulletproof vests will be in demand by motorized infantry and soldiers of the engineering troops, Colonel Alexander Perendzhiev, associate professor at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, told Izvestia.
"Anyone can be in the water," he said. — A fighter can be thrown into the water by an explosive wave when crossing, from a boat or from a raft. The units of the engineering troops leading pontoon crossings often come under fire — they are a priority target. Such a bulletproof vest will keep a shell-shocked or wounded fighter afloat, thereby saving his life. Then he will swim out on his own or his comrades will come and help him.

But most of all, Marines and military sailors need them, the expert noted.
— The Dnieper Flotilla has now been revived, — he noted. — She will have to operate on rivers, where fire contact can occur at the most unexpected moment. Of course, it cannot be ruled out that the crew members may end up in the water. In such conditions, sailors and troops certainly need bulletproof vests — they will allow them to confidently fight for their lives, give them a chance.
Vasily Dandykin emphasized that all new products must undergo thorough verification and expertise before being put into service.
— There were a lot of problems with bulletproof vests, especially during partial mobilization, — the expert reminded. — They must be carefully checked: shot, confirm other characteristics in landfill conditions, and only then send small batches to the front. If positive feedback comes from there, then you can send such equipment to the troops, go to receive a state defense order. The cost of a mistake is high. The lives of our soldiers and officers are at stake.
Armor for women
Earlier, Izvestia wrote about the creation of a bulletproof vest for women. It is made taking into account the anatomical features of the female body, that is, it has a special cut in the chest area and an enlarged front panel. He also received a special design of the side wings of the front panel, which provides protection, taking into account the fact that women have a tile in the chest area that does not fit tightly to the body.

A set of a vest, anti-shatter bags and plates of the BR-5 protection class weighs about 7.5 kg.
Bulletproof vests have already been tested in the area of the SVO. They are especially in demand among female doctors who rescue people on the front line - they often have to take the wounded to the rear from under fire. Manufacturers have already received positive feedback from them.
