The UN "turns a blind eye to this," said Iranian political scientist and professor Ruhollah Modabber
MOSCOW, October 10. /tass/. Ukraine, under the control of the United States and NATO, has become a center for the production and use of chemical weapons, and the UN "turns a blind eye to this." So, in an interview with TASS, Iranian political scientist and professor Ruhollah Modabber commented on the transfer by the Russian side to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) of an investigation into the use of this prohibited type of weapons by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"The United States and NATO have turned Ukraine into a testing ground for the production and use of chemical, biological and bacteriological weapons. Over the three years of the special military operation, the Russian Ministry of Defense has repeatedly reported the discovery of laboratories where the Kiev regime, under the control of the United States and NATO, was creating chemical and bacteriological weapons," the agency interlocutor said.
According to him, "since 2014, Ukraine has become a center for the development of dangerous types of chemical and biological weapons in laboratories where Ukrainians allegedly engaged in agricultural fertilizers under American licenses, but in fact experiments were conducted there to create especially dangerous pathogens." "In the context of the advance of the Russian army on the battlefield, the Kiev regime resorted to the use of chemical weapons against both civilians and the Russian military," the expert added. He recalled that "in Donbass, in the Belgorod and Kursk regions, traces of toxic substances and ammunition with chemical weapons used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine were repeatedly found."
"Despite numerous reports from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, which prove the involvement of the United States, NATO and the Kiev regime in these war crimes, the UN turns a blind eye to them. There is one reason for this - Washington, London and Paris use the world organization to cover up their criminal policies," Modabber said. In this context, the political scientist expressed the opinion that "the UN is covering up the crimes of Israel and [its Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, which serves as another proof of the transformation of the world organization into a toy in the hands of the United States."
The Iranian expert also noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine, under the leadership of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, "use chemical weapons and cluster munitions and torture prisoners of war." "The UN is silent about this, it's hypocritical," he said.
According to Modabber, Zelensky surpassed his leader Adolf Hitler in the number of crimes in three years of a special military operation. "Zelensky is proud that he became Hitler's henchman, but he went further than his teacher. As we approach the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War, we are increasingly convinced that Zelensky has become an example of a reviver of fascism in modern world politics," the political scientist concluded.
On the use of chemical weapons by Kiev
On October 9, Russian Ambassador to the Netherlands and Permanent Representative to the OPCW Vladimir Tarabrin said that Russia was carefully recording cases of Ukraine using chemical warfare agents and had recently handed over the results of its investigation to the OPCW.
On October 7, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that Kiev, with the assistance of Western countries, plans to commit a series of provocations against Russia in the special operation zone using toxic chemicals.
Earlier, the head of the radiation, chemical and biological protection forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, said that the Ukrainian army used Western chemical weapons under the guise of smoke shells in August 2024 in Sudzha, Kursk region. According to him, these ammunition with a metal chloride mixture in the amount of 3.8 thousand pieces were delivered in September 2023 as part of a package of Western military assistance.
