Protective products have a special cut that takes into account anatomical features
In Russia, they created a bulletproof vest for women. It has a special cut in the chest area and an enlarged front panel. The bulletproof vests have already been tested in the SVO zone and received good reviews. Experts note that they are especially useful for female doctors who save people on the front line - they often have to take the wounded to the rear from under fire.
Women's body armor
The bulletproof vest is made taking into account the anatomical features of the female body, that is, it has a special cut in the chest area and an enlarged front panel.
— In standard bulletproof vests for women, due to the anatomy, the front panel rises up and reduces the area of protection of the abdomen, Savva Burlingas, owner of the Broneezh personal protective equipment company, told Izvestia. — In modern warfare, where the vast majority of wounds are shrapnel, even 1-2 cm can play a decisive role. The bulletproof vest also has a special design of the wings of the front panel, which provides proper protection, taking into account the fact that the plate in the chest area of women does not have a tight fit to the body.
A set of a vest, anti-shatter bags and plates of the BR-5 protection class weighs about 7.5 kg, he noted.

There are very few manufacturers of armor protection for women in the world. If we do not consider concealed-carry body armor, but talk specifically about military products, then the Broneezh company was one of the first in Russia to address this issue.
In addition, according to Savva Burlingas, they produce body armor of non-standard sizes according to individual customer standards. That is, for particularly tall and short, overweight and thin people.
The founder of the company himself fought in Donbass in 2014-2015. Having tried a large number of different body armor — outdated Soviet, modern Russian and top world ones — he was able to understand exactly what the fighters needed from the armor.

— Bulletproof vests for women are necessary and must take into account anatomical features, — Colonel Valery Yuryev, deputy chairman of the Union of Paratroopers of Russia, told Izvestia.
— Although, unlike the Ukrainian army, women do not serve as military personnel of assault units, but they certainly need bulletproof vests, — he noted. — And here it is important that its impenetrability is maintained and the weight is small.

As military expert Yuri Lyamin explained to Izvestia, it is very important to have a bulletproof vest that is made or tailored to a specific person.
— Many people forget, but medical workers often find themselves near the front line to take out the wounded. That is, at this moment they are in the range of enemy artillery and ubiquitous drones. And we know that a significant percentage of health workers are women," he noted. — In addition, it is very important that everyone has a bulletproof vest made according to personal patterns or at least tailored to a specific person. Getting even one fragment into a person can seriously injure him, so it is important to cover all the organs necessary for life support. And do not turn a blind eye to the fact that the bulletproof vest sits on you only 1 cm higher than it should.
According to him, historically, the Ministry of Defense in all countries always focuses on the standard male figure. There is a size range, but it mostly concerns the width of the bulletproof vest. In this case, the fighter can use Velcro to pull it up to his size.
"Your armor saved our dad."
The owner of the company shared with Izvestia "success stories", which he treats with special trepidation.
In the fall of 2022, an officer of the age limit volunteered for a special military operation zone.
— By hook or by crook, we managed to arrange a bulletproof vest for him right before departure, which saved him at Kremennaya a few months later. Then he received several fragments over the area of the bulletproof vest," Savva Burlingas said.
More recently, he also came under another attack — several fragments from ammunition flew into the side and into the cervical module directly opposite the vertebra, as well as a bullet in the back. The bulletproof vest withstood everything.

The company also received thanks from the users' relatives. One day, a boy whose father was seriously injured wrote.
— He told me that all the vital organs that were covered by the armor were not touched. His father couldn't write it himself at that moment, so he asked his son to thank us. The boy's words "your armor saved our dad" still make my body tremble," the owner of the company shared his emotions.
Boron carbide and armor
Earlier, Izvestia wrote that in Russia they began to produce bulletproof vests with plates made of domestic boron carbide — this is the lightest and most durable material capable of stopping an automatic or machine-gun bullet.

At the same time, it allows you to reduce the weight of the product by 35%. The new bulletproof vest has received the highest protection class — BR-5 — and is already being supplied to the troops in the SVO zone.
According to the manufacturers, the bulletproof vest will bring the survival rate of a serviceman to a new level by reducing the weight of the product and ease of wearing, as well as high protective characteristics.
