The enemy used more than 100 UAVs to attack the Russian border
On October 3, Ukrainian formations tried to launch a massive strike with unmanned aerial vehicles on Russian territory. 73 drones were shot down or suppressed by air defense means over the Belgorod region alone. Two women were injured in the attacks. Experts note that the methods of the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not change: their failures at the front are always accompanied by attempts to attack the civilian population of Russia. How many drones were shot down, what are the consequences on the ground and what tactics the enemy used this time — in the material of Izvestia.
How many drones participated in the raid
On the night of October 3, Russian air defense forces shot down 118 enemy drones, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
— 73 UAVs — over the territory of Belgorod, 25 — over the territory of Voronezh, 14 — over the territory of Kursk and one over the territory of Bryansk regions, — noted in the military department.
The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that a woman was injured in the attack in the city of Stary Oskol. She received a cut wound in her foot. And because of the falling debris of downed drones, windows were broken in three private households, roofs, facades and fences were cut, and a passenger car was damaged.
According to the governor of the Voronezh Region, Alexander Gusev, after a night attack by a UAV, a woman living in one of the districts of the region turned to doctors. She received a moderate shrapnel wound. The victim is in the hospital, her life is not in danger.
On the afternoon of October 3, the enemy continued to attack the Kursk region with the help of UAVs.
— There are many reports of loud noises in the sky of Kursk. This was worked out by the air defense system for targets over the Kursk region. The consequences on earth are being clarified," explained Governor Alexei Smirnov in his Telegram channel.
Single attacks throughout the day also continued on the Belgorod region.
Why are the APU hitting Russian cities
Usually, the formations of Ukraine carry out complex attacks on the Russian border. At the same time, they used the tactics of a massive attack with the help of aircraft-type drones. Military expert Gennady Alekhine told Izvestia about this.
"This is the first time in recent months that waves have struck,— he explained. — UAVs were launched from the Kharkiv and Sumy regions. The enemy used three types of drones: "Baba Yaga", "Palyanitsa", "Fierce". All of them can fly close enough to the ground at high speed and carry from eight to 20 kg of explosives or grenades filled with chemicals, among other things.
According to the expert, the purpose of this attack was to test and undermine the Russian air defense system.
— After the drones in the Belgorod region, the enemy struck with three single rockets. They were shot down on approach to the city. There were no casualties," he noted, "Our response was to "iron" the launch sites of drones and enemy missiles all night, using barrel artillery, MLRS and missile systems.
During a conversation with Izvestia in Belgorod, where the expert lives, a missile danger signal was turned on, so the dialogue had to be interrupted. Later, the expert called back and said that the alarm was false and everything was fine in the city.
As military expert Viktor Litovkin explained to Izvestia, against the background of statements by the Armed Forces of Ukraine that they were leaving Ugledar, this attack looks like a desire to somehow compensate for their failures at the front.
— Their favorite tactic is to retreat, but at the same time try to get our population. This is also a manifestation of their hatred of people, because by attacking our border regions, they are not fighting with our army, but with civilians," he stressed. — They kill people, try to instill in them fear, horror and disbelief in their own power, which allegedly is not able to protect them. That's their goal. They also try not to disappoint the West, which helps them. But he does it according to the principle: "feed the dog so that it does not starve to death, but barks loudly and bites painfully." After all, their arms supplies are not able to meet the needs of the belligerent army.
However, according to the expert, the West has no goal to defeat Russia on the battlefield, although they are loudly shouting about it.
— It is important for NATO to conduct military operations in Ukraine as long as possible, as they say, "to the last Ukrainian." According to their calculations, Russia should go bankrupt in this war, in which case its political, economic and military relations will weaken. But here, of course, they miscalculate, because politically we did not flinch, and economically. In particular, GDP growth is 3.5-4% annually, and large-scale exercises such as Ocean—2024 are still being held," Viktor Litovkin summed up.
Ukraine is often attacked by hundreds of drones
The last time, more than a hundred drones were intercepted over Russian regions on the night of September 29. At that time, the most drones were directed towards the Volgograd region — 67.
Voronezh Governor Alexander Gusev reported that several suppressed and downed drones fell in Voronezh and the suburbs. The Rostov authorities said that the north of the region was subjected to a massive attack, there were no wounded.
In the Krasnodar Territory, in the village of Shabelskoye, a depressed drone crashed into a tree and exploded, windows and doors were knocked out at a nearby house, and a family living there was not injured.
On September 10, more than 90 UAVs attacked Russian regions. At least 14 were shot down over Podolsk, Ramenskoye, Lyubertsy, Kolomna and Domodedovo. This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. A woman was killed in the raid.
7 drones were destroyed over the Kaluga region, and 2 more over Tula. According to local authorities, near Tula, the wreckage of a drone fell on one of the facilities of the fuel and energy complex.
12 Ukrainian aircraft–type UAVs were shot down over the territory of the Kursk region, and 59 drones were shot down over the Bryansk Region. The governor of the Lipetsk region, Igor Artamonov, also reported on the night attack. According to him, there are no casualties.
Prior to that, 158 Ukrainian drones were shot down on the night of September 1.
