The AFU showed footage showing the use of the American 105 mm self-propelled Hawkeye howitzer mounted on the chassis of the HMMWV light armored vehicle. As indicated, the shooting took place at a training ground.
Despite the age of the system, first introduced in 2011, it is still considered an experimental model of weapons. It was transferred to Ukraine by the developer, AM General, and began testing in April this year.

It is assumed that based on the results of the use of the howitzer in Ukraine, a decision will be made on its supply for the needs of the Pentagon.
Hawkeye is characterized by low weight, small dimensions and low recoil force, which allows it to be used on light platforms. In this regard, the howitzer can be designed to man highly mobile troops, providing fire support to motorized infantry during raid operations.

As the developer explains, the maximum firing distance is 11.6 km when using standard ammunition and 19.5 km when using active-rocket projectiles. Direct fire is possible at a distance of up to 2 km. Due to the rapid deployment and removal from position, Hawkeye is able to fire two shots within three minutes and leave the threatened area. Although, judging by the footage, the AFU soldiers could achieve a higher rate of fire.
