Autumn has arrived in the area of the special military operation in Donbas.
Summer has been seriously delayed this year, and warm weather still reigns in the Russian Azov Sea region. Therefore, Russian anti-aircraft gunners working on the Tor-M1 anti-aircraft missile systems of the Zapad group of forces still have the opportunity to use local landings and copses to disguise combat vehicles.
According to the information department of the Russian Ministry of Defense, during one of the combat duties, the calculation of the Tor-M1 air defense system arrived at the specified position in a matter of minutes to cover the positions of the troops.

Having discovered the air target of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which turned out to be a reconnaissance drone, the calculation of the Tor-M1 SAM destroyed the enemy UAV with an accurate missile hit, preventing the planned attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the positions of Russian troops.
This time, the "prey of anti-aircraft gunners" was a military aircraft drone of the Valkyrie type. By the way, the anti-aircraft gunners of the Tor-M1 air defense system managed to shoot down a reconnaissance drone at a distance of about 10 km!

"Such a small victory, but it should be so, because the target should have been destroyed," the head of the calculation of the Tor-M1 air defense system with the call sign "Athlete" told reporters of the Russian Defense Ministry.
By the way, during the combat work of anti-aircraft gunners, a mobile fire group operating in conjunction with the calculation is responsible for the defense of the combat vehicle. While the "Thor" identifies and hits targets, the fighters put up special anti-drone nets around it.

The mobile fire group covering the "Tor" is armed with small arms, automatic rifles and portable electronic warfare systems.
The calculation of the complex is able to conduct practical work on detecting targets both on the spot and in motion, which allows you to expand the range of tasks for the protection of a ground group of troops. After making sure that air targets are hit, the combat vehicle promptly changes its firing position in order to prevent the enemy from striking.
Despite its age, the Tor-M1 anti-aircraft missile system continues to firmly maintain its status as one of the most experienced and reliable air defense systems.
Work on the creation of the complex began in the mid-70s of the last century. A little over 10 years later, in 1986, the first generation of the Tor air defense system was adopted. Tor received the M1 index in 1989 after modernization.
Already in the 90s, the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol became the leading enterprise for the production of the Tor-M1 air defense system (today it is part of the Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region).
To date, the Tor-M1 air defense system remains in service with Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Venezuela, Greece, Iran, China, and other countries of the world.
