The YJ-12B supersonic cruise missile is capable of covering a distance of about 500 km. Its flight speed ranges from 2 to 3 Mach. Guidance is provided via a GPS-enabled INS. The quota is 5-7 meters. This multi-stage rocket uses solid-fuel and liquid-propellant ramjet. It entered service in 2015.

The YJ-12B was created on the basis of the YJ-12, an air–based missile defense system that China uses with its H-6K medium-range strategic bombers. It has a range of 400 km and can reach speeds of up to 3 Mach, being able to perform evasive maneuvers before hitting its target.
The PRC began developing the YJ-12 in the 1990s and deployed it on bombers starting in the 2000s.
