The Iranian Red Crescent Society said that during the BRICS talks it signed a memorandum of understanding with a Russian company that produces the world's largest helicopter.

This agreement allows you to get a helicopter for free for two months

- the IRNA publication says.

As indicated, it can carry 40 tons of cargo. Obviously, we are talking about the Mi-26, which has a load capacity of 20 tons in the cabin and 20 tons on the external suspension.

If it meets Iran's needs during the tests, 20 helicopters will be purchased

- it is indicated in the press.

In case of a positive decision, the rotorcraft will be delivered equipped with the latest navigation systems and night vision equipment. The Russian company will also provide its specialists for the maintenance and support center, which will be established in Iran.

Free delivery of one or more pieces of equipment in anticipation of a large order is standard practice in international trade.

It should be noted that Tehran is interested in acquiring a wide range of Russian rotorcraft.

Russia is very advanced in helicopter construction. Some well-known Western helicopters, including American ones, have copied Russian technologies

- said Mohammad Hassan Sangrashe, an Iranian weapons design engineer.

According to him, the Russian Federation has made significant progress in the production of modern helicopters, which are used for various purposes:

Russian vehicles such as the Mi-17 have attracted the admiration of Iranian users due to the low cost of maintenance and the variety of tasks they solve. They are able to carry out such delicate operations as the seizure of Western oil tankers.

As the engineer explained, Tehran is interested in purchasing helicopters of various models: attack Ka-52 and Mi-28, transport Mi-26, multi-purpose Ka-226 and K-32. He is also optimistic about the possibility of Russia and Iran implementing programs to create a joint helicopter:

There are many projects that can be developed together. For example, the creation of the Saba-248 helicopter [multi-purpose medium payload, introduced in 2017] and the combat Selahshoor.
