A week after a video first appeared depicting the use of drones with thermite ammunition by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian fighters published footage of the use of similar weapons as a retaliatory measure.

As indicated in the publication The War Zone, drones attack by scattering incendiary composition along forest belts and trenches in which the enemy is hiding:

This weapon not only causes damage to personnel. Burning out thickets reduces the places where the enemy can hide, increasing his vulnerability. The thermite mixture can destroy anything that turns out to be unprotected. It also burns oxygen, affecting even those who are not in direct contact with it.

As German journalist Julian Repke explained in this regard, the war is increasingly turning into a drone war.

The publication indicates that equipping UAVs with thermite weapons differs from the previous development of unmanned systems, since now they have a devastating effect on a vast area. Moreover, this is done with high accuracy and without risk to the operator.

A single drone can cause huge damage when using thermite, compared to the much more limited effects typical for the combat use of small attack drones. The significant psychological impact of this weapon should also be taken into account
