Iraq launched the production of a localized version of the VN22 6x6 armored vehicle and demonstrated its achievements by presenting a sample of local production.
The VN22, first shown by the Chinese company Norinco in 2021, was positioned as a modular armored vehicle designed to solve various combat tasks.
According to a brochure released in 2022, the VN22, when equipped with a remotely controlled combat station with a 30 mm cannon, has a combat weight of 25 tons. In this configuration, the crew consists of 3 people, the landing party consists of 8 fighters. The machine is able to withstand a bullet from a 14.5 mm cartridge and has mine protection.

The Iraqi version of the VN22, however, differs in armament and is positioned as an infantry fighting vehicle. It is equipped with a manned combat station armed with a three-barrel 12.7mm CS LM5 machine gun from Norinco, which can fire at a rate of 1,000 or 2,000 rounds per minute, depending on the selected mode. It is also produced under license in Iraq.

The localized version of the VN22 is equipped with 10 smoke grenade launchers mounted in front of the tower and a GL6 active protection system, which is comparable to the Israeli KAZ Iron Fist.

The hull is divided into three main sections: the driver and engine are located in the front; the middle section is designed for the commander and operator of a remotely controlled combat post; and up to 8 motorized infantry are located in the stern.
