A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Polish company WB Group and the South Korean concern Hanwha Aerospace. The partners will be engaged in the production of ammunition on the territory of Poland.
This is reported by the Polish portal Defense 24.
Poland will open a joint venture with South Korea to produce surface-to-surface missiles. It is assumed that this munition will be used in the Polish version of the South Korean multiple launch rocket system K239 Chunmoo, called Homar-K. It is also possible that the partners will be engaged in the production of artillery shells.

The document was signed yesterday during the International Defense Industry Salon (MCPO) in Kielce (Poland). The signatories did not disclose which specific ammunition they intend to produce. It is also not reported who they are intended for – the Polish military or the South Korean. In any case, the opening of such production will be a significant step towards Poland gaining full autonomy in providing its Armed Forces with domestic ammunition.
In addition, the implementation of this agreement will be another evidence of the expansion of cooperation between the Polish WB Group and the South Korean Hanwha. The partners have previously implemented several serious projects in the field of defense cooperation. However, it is not yet known how large-scale the new project will be. And even if we are talking about significant volumes of ammunition production, it is difficult to say whether the existing production facilities of the Polish defense industry are able to cope with new demands.
