It is necessary to launch pre-emptive strikes and push the enemy away from our borders, experts say
The most effective and reliable way to stop the shelling of Russian cities by Ukrainian militants is to move them away from our borders at a distance greater than the range of Western multiple launch rocket systems, experts interviewed by Izvestia believe. Among the ways to protect against terrorist attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they called the automation of air defense systems and the destruction of enemy artillery weapons. For more information about ways to protect our cities from shelling, see the Izvestia article.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to attack Belgorod and the region
On the morning of September 2, Belgorod was subjected to a massive attack by cluster munitions from the AFU. As a result of the shelling of residential areas, 11 people were injured. There are two children among them, and they are now in extremely serious condition.
— 33 private houses, 94 cars, three social facilities were damaged. Firefighters also promptly extinguished one car, a balcony in one of the apartments of an apartment building and dry grass, — said the governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov.

According to him, a direct hit by an enemy missile almost completely destroyed the kindergarten "Lion Cub". Therefore, the authorities decided to transfer the work of all educational institutions, including kindergartens, to an online format for a week.
45 rounds of ammunition were fired at the Shebekinsky urban district and attacks were carried out using three UAVs, one of which was shot down. Five civilians were injured, one of whom is in serious condition.

The villages of Maysky and Dubovoye, the villages of Zhuravlevka, Otradnoye, Petrovka, Repnoye, Shagarovka and Yasnye Zori in the Belgorod region were subjected to two air attacks. One civilian was killed and two were injured.
The villages of Baitsury and Gruzskoye were attacked with two ammunition and three UAVs. In the Volokonovsky district in the village of Tishanka, as a result of shelling, a fire broke out in three private households. In the Krasnoyaruzhsky district, 18 rounds of ammunition were fired at the villages of Repyakhovka and Staroselye during two attacks.

Last Friday, August 30, the AFU militants hit Belgorod with cluster munitions from the Vampire MLRS. Five people were killed and 46 injured. Medical assistance is provided to the victims.
On Knowledge Day, September 1, 15 regions of Russia were attacked by Ukrainian drones at once. The air defense forces intercepted 158 Ukrainian drones, the Defense Ministry said. According to the ministry, the most attacks occurred in Kursk (46), Bryansk (34), Voronezh (28) and Belgorod regions (14).
It is necessary to automate the Russian air defense
The air defense system has never faced such challenges that are happening now. This was told to Izvestia by the former deputy head of the Air Force for the CIS Joint Air Defense System, Reserve Lieutenant General Aytech Bizhev.
— We have never faced such a massive and rapid growth of low-speed unmanned aircraft. And unmanned aerial vehicles can fly at low altitude, and then they are detected very late. Naturally, this gives very little time to make a decision. The Russian means of destroying aircraft were sharpened for completely different purposes — cruise missiles, planning bombs, high—speed, strategic and front-line aviation," the expert stressed.

— And low-speed aircraft with a speed of 100 km / h are very easy to confuse, in particular with birds, — explained Aytech Bizhev. — But it is important to note that our air defense systems always reflect the main strikes, and the damage is minimal and uncritical to Russian facilities. Especially if you compare it with the damage that we inflict on the enemy. Therefore, our air defense units fulfill their role, but the system itself requires rethinking.
According to the expert, it is necessary to switch to automatic control, because the human brain does not have time to process and react everything. And it is necessary to introduce the highest automation in interaction with electronic warfare, electronic suppression and means of destruction. And not to use high-explosive fragmentation ammunition, as on combat units, but laser weapons. It is necessary to change the tactics of warfare, because there are threats that we did not worry about before.
Create a protective zone and destroy launchers
The enemy, when shelling our border area with the help of MLRS "Vampire" systems, uses the tactics of nomadic artillery, military expert Alexei Leonkov told Izvestia.
— That is, they secretly place it before going out to the point from which they will strike. Charging takes place there, after which the enemy moves out, strikes and rotates to the maximum possible distance to avoid a retaliatory strike," he explained. — Of course, it is necessary to monitor from the air, hang drones. The task is solvable, requiring clear interaction between the UAVs that detect the Vampire multiple launch rocket systems and the means that will strike back at them. Work on them is still underway, the enemy's MLRS systems are being knocked out.

But the most ideal way to secure our border area is to throw the APU away from the border, military expert Vasily Dandykin is sure.
— Our units need to go towards Kharkov at least a distance slightly exceeding the range of the "Vampires" and "Hymers". As we are now pushing them away from Donetsk, in principle, the Petrovsky district remains there, which is still being shot at, but soon the artillery will not finish there. There's no way we can do without it. These are fascists who are purposefully hitting the civilian population. And it is necessary, of course, to destroy the means of firing with ammunition. They say our military had a big enough hunt for them. Czech "Vampires" and "Hymers" were destroyed, and so on. But they throw them at the enemy and throw them up. But these two actions should be enough to secure our border area," he concluded.
