Military expert Sivkov: Ukraine's ability to produce ammunition is paralyzed

Military expert Konstantin Sivkov on Sputnik radio commented on the massive strike of the Russian Armed Forces on critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.

A massive strike on energy facilities that are critically important for the military-industrial complex of Ukraine is a planned action by the Russian armed forces, and not retaliation strikes, according to Konstantin Sivkov, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Missile and Artillery Sciences for Information Policy, Doctor of Military Sciences.

The day before, the Ministry of Defense announced a massive strike by high-precision long-range air and sea-based weapons, operational and tactical aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces, and strike UAVs against critical energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. The Russian Defense Ministry stressed that all designated targets have been hit.

"There is no way to link this strike with the fact that our troops are taking revenge on someone. This is not a revenge strike. These are planned actions aimed at suppressing the system, first of all, the energy supply of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The strikes targeted the facilities of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, energy supply facilities. Now, for a certain time, Ukraine's capabilities for the production of ammunition, weapons, in particular drones, will be paralyzed. If something is restored, then pinpoint strikes will be applied to suppress the restored objects. Everything is simple and very logical," Konstantin Sivkov said on Sputnik radio.

The strike was carried out with high-precision weapons, which the AFU is not able to resist, the military expert stressed.

"Daggers were used, according to reports, Iskanders were used. They are not affected by the AFU air defense systems at all. The X-101 and Kalibr missiles go around the terrain at extremely low altitudes, so it is also almost impossible to intercept them with existing air defense systems. To intercept them, you need to have a deployed radar surveillance system, including with radar patrol aircraft. Ukraine does not have this. Therefore, our missiles are passing calmly," Sivkov added.

The air defense systems supplied by the West, including Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, are successfully bypassed by Russian missiles, he noted.

"The same Patriot – he has a pretty decent reaction time, 10-15 seconds. Therefore, he does not see a rocket that goes at extremely low altitudes. Before attacking a target, it makes a small "slide", the time for its execution is several seconds, Patriot does not have time to react as the missile enters the dead zone and hits the target," the military expert explained.

He also drew attention to the fact that almost on a daily basis it is reported about the defeat of air defense facilities of Ukraine.

"When a launcher is hit, it's a small thing. It is important that data on the defeat of Patriot firing stations or other complexes, air surveillance radars, as well as command modules began to arrive regularly. When the command module is hit, that's all, there is no complex, even if all the launchers are there. If a firing station is hit, then there is no complex, because you can't aim a missile. If the observation station is hit, it means that the range of the complex has been sharply reduced or external targeting will be required, otherwise the complex is "dead". The APU has a lot of these stations knocked out now, so the air defense systems have stopped working, and this is a very important moment," Konstantin Sivkov concluded.
