Enterprises for the production of drones and repair of military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were subjected to a missile attack
Large-scale strikes on military and energy facilities in Ukraine on August 26 were designed to disrupt the work of the military-industrial complex of the Kiev regime and undermine the combat capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, experts interviewed by Izvestia believe. It is known that high-precision weapons have hit Ukrainian facilities for the production of drones and repair of military equipment. In addition, the targets were electrical substations, gas compressor stations and storage sites for aviation weapons transferred to the Kiev regime by Western countries. As a result, the supply of weapons and ammunition to the line of contact was disrupted.
What targets have been hit in Ukraine by a massive Russian strike
On Monday morning, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive strike on critically important energy infrastructure facilities that provided the work of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
The ministry clarified that the strikes were carried out with high-precision long-range air and sea-based weapons and attack drones.
"All designated targets have been hit. Also, two workshops for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine were hit during the day in the special operation zone," the ministry said in a statement.
Later, the ministry clarified that the targets of the strike were electrical substations in Kiev, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnitsky, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Mykolaiv, Kirovograd and Odessa regions.
Gas compressor stations in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Kharkiv regions, which ensure the functioning of the gas transportation system of Ukraine, were also damaged.
"In addition, the storage sites of aviation weapons transferred to Kiev by Western countries at airfields in the Kiev and Dnipropetrovsk regions were attacked. All designated targets have been hit, as a result, power outages are noted, railway transportation of weapons and ammunition to the line of contact has been disrupted," the Defense Ministry said.
The heads of Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Odessa, Sumy, Chernihiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lutsk regional administrations and the Kiev-controlled city of Zaporizhia reported on strikes on energy infrastructure facilities on Monday. Power outages were recorded in some of them.
The mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, reported that power outages were observed in a number of districts of the city. In addition, according to him, there was also a violation of the water supply on the right bank. Later, energy and utilities restored the operation of the equipment.
The Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, wrote about the "difficult situation" after the explosions. "The situation is complicated, the consequences are being clarified. Power engineers are already working on their elimination," he wrote on social networks.
DTEK Energy Holding announced the introduction of emergency blackouts throughout the country.
How will the missile raid affect the combat capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
— Apparently, the missiles were launched from Tu-95 and Tu-22 aircraft. Onyx and Kalibr cruise missiles were launched from ships and, possibly, from submarines from the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea," military expert Gennady Alekhine told Izvestia. — Not only sea and air, but also land—based Iskander carriers were used, which mainly attacked the border areas of Ukraine. These are Sumy and Kharkiv regions. The enemy's temporary deployment points, energy facilities, and military-industrial complex enterprises were hit.
In particular, according to him, enterprises for the repair of foreign equipment in Kharkov were hit, as well as workshops for the manufacture and assembly of drones.
— By the way, technical specialists from NATO countries work there — the French, Germans and Poles, – the expert continued. — The area where the airports in Kharkiv are located was also hit. In the same place there is a hotel where the French mercenaries lived. They were already beaten there in the spring of this year. They must have moved in again.
According to Gennady Alekhine, the enemy is now transferring forces and means, including from Kharkov to the Sumy region, and Russian forces attacked columns of equipment that were heading to the borders with the Kursk region.
— In general, this should affect the combat capability of the Ukrainian formations. Strikes are carried out both at rear facilities and at places of temporary enemy deployment points, at material facilities, warehouses, as well as at railway junctions. This should also affect the replenishment of material resources that the enemy is currently using in the Kharkov and Kursk directions.
Such strikes are designed to disrupt the work of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, the control system of the armed forces and destroy ammunition depots with military equipment and deprive Ukraine of the opportunity to continue hostilities, military expert Viktor Litovkin told Izvestia.
"Their effectiveness can be seen by how intensively Ukraine will be able to continue attacks on Russian territories, how it can replenish its reserves, transfer reserves to the line of contact," Viktor Litovkin noted. — Strikes on the energy infrastructure should de-energize Ukrainian factories. We are talking about both public and private enterprises for the production of drones. Substations and power lines can certainly be destroyed, but we do not know how powerfully and in detail this is being done. We only trust official military information.
The most large-scale attacks on the infrastructure of Ukraine were previously carried out on the night of December 29 last year. Explosions thundered in Kiev, Kharkov, Dnipro, Odessa, Zaporizhia and other cities. In total, between December 23 and December 29, the Russian armed forces launched 50 group and one massive strike with precision weapons and drones against military targets in Ukraine. According to the Ministry of Defense, objects of the military-industrial complex (MIC), airfield infrastructure, arsenals, as well as places of storage of weapons, deployment of troops and foreign mercenaries were affected.
Massive strikes on the military and energy infrastructure of Ukraine were launched by the Russian armed forces in October 2022. President Vladimir Putin said at the time that this was a response to the terrorist actions of the Kiev regime - in particular, in relation to the Crimean Bridge. Sergei Shoigu, who then held the post of head of the Russian Defense Ministry, said that high-precision weapons continue to effectively hit military infrastructure facilities, as well as facilities that affect the reduction of Ukraine's military potential.
