Traditionally, St. Petersburg-based Nevsky PKB JSC specializes in the areas of military shipbuilding (aircraft carriers, amphibious ships, shipboard aviation equipment) and civil shipbuilding (scientific expeditionary vessels and research vessels, power units, cargo and passenger ships).
The vessel is designed to: solve logistical problems in the Arctic zone, including the areas of the Novosibirsk Islands, Franz Josef Land and the entire length of the Northern Sea Route, ensure the deployment of Arctic expeditions, and support the functioning of existing polar bases in the Arctic.
The vessel has the ability to navigate independently in discharged annual Arctic ice up to 0.8 m thick in winter and spring navigation and up to 1 m in summer and autumn.
The length of the vessel is 142 m, the width is about 24.8 m. There are four decks on board the ship with a manned superstructure shifted aft. Wheelhouse with panoramic view. The autonomy of the vessel is 60 days.
Husky has the ability to provide independent transportation and unloading of personal types of cargo, machinery and equipment in harsh Arctic conditions. The placement of goods, machinery and equipment is provided both in the cargo hold and on the upper deck of the vessel.
There are runways in the bow and aft parts. A helicopter hangar is provided for the storage of aviation equipment in the aft part of the superstructure.
For cargo operations, the vessel is equipped with two cranes with a lifting capacity of at least 50 tons on departure.
The M9OFR gas turbine gear unit in combination with a shaft line and an adjustable pitch screw is responsible for the movement of the vessel. The maneuverability of the vessel in cramped conditions is provided by two thrusters.
