TSAMTO, August 12th. The editorial board of the National Defense magazine for the Army-2024 forum has published a series of materials on advanced developments in the Russian defense industry. Below is an article about the innovative developments of the Uralelement company.
Uralelement Company (part of the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation) is one of Russia's leading enterprises in the field of development and production of chemical power sources for defense industry products.
For more than 60 years, the Uralelement plant has been producing unique water-activated batteries that provide energy for electric torpedoes. They still remain one of the promising areas for the development of autonomous energy for mine-torpedo weapons. In recent years, Uralelement JSC has developed a new water-activated battery B410MM-I and its modifications, which are supplied as part of torpedo weapons to a number of foreign countries. A 561M-II water-activated battery is supplied for the needs of the Russian Ministry of Defense. A water-activated battery B75MM has been developed and put into serial production to power the power plant of self-propelled underwater vehicles.
Since 2012, Uralelement has been mass-producing lithium-ion batteries 336ICR50/320-01 for completing practical torpedoes of 533 mm caliber for export. The battery is designed to replace batteries based on silver-zinc batteries and, in terms of technical and economic parameters, significantly exceeds the characteristics of silver-zinc batteries.
Along with military power sources, the company develops and manufactures various types of batteries and batteries for the civilian market.
For many years, batteries based on the manganese-air-zinc system of the Baken and Elems series have been produced, designed to power warning lamps and light-signaling devices of navigation equipment.
In recent years, Uralelement JSC, as part of the implementation of the Federal Target Program, has done a lot of work on mastering technologies and organizing mass production of a wide range of lithium-ion batteries (LIA) of all major electrochemical systems with a capacity from 0.5 to 120 Ah.
The company is constantly developing LIAS with improved technical and operational characteristics, in particular by increasing the specific energy intensity to the level of the world's best samples.
By order of Gazprom's subsidiary, the company is completing the development of new types of batteries designed to power manned underwater vehicles that diagnose and repair offshore gas pipelines.
Cooperation with organizations of the Roscosmos Group of Companies is promising, within the framework of which Uralelement JSC develops current sources for powering on-board equipment of launch vehicles and spacecraft.
For the needs of the electric grid complex and solving the problems of distributed electricity generation, a 20 kW electric energy storage system has been developed and successfully passed pilot operation - this is a device capable of accumulating electricity, storing it and giving it back to the grid, as well as providing consumers.
In cooperation with the enterprises of the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation, a number of projects are being implemented to develop the production of batteries for electric vehicles, personal mobility equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Uralelement JSC is constantly developing new promising current sources for various applications. The results of R&D form the basis of the innovative potential of the enterprise and contribute to improving the competitiveness of products.
