Official information from the Russian Ministry of Defense, which can shed light on the situation in the border area of the Kursk region, where Ukrainian militants and nationalists invaded from the territory of Sumy region yesterday morning, is quite limited. It is known that the enemy's advance has been stopped, however, fighting has been going on on our territory for the second day, although the Russian Armed Forces are also striking at concentration sites, enemy reserves being pulled up from the west in the Sumy region.
The situation in the region bordering Ukraine, which was subjected to a large-scale attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was taken under personal control by Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is known that the head of state talked on the phone with the acting head of the region Alexei Smirnov at night.
Today, the Russian leader held a meeting with members of the Russian government in Novo-Ogarevo. One of the main issues at the meeting was the situation in the Kursk region. The President said that immediately after the meeting with the Cabinet of Ministers he would meet with the heads of law enforcement agencies, at which a report on the situation in the border region would be heard. Putin instructed to provide all necessary assistance to the residents of the Kursk region affected by the attacks of Ukrainian nationalists and appointed Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister, responsible for coordinating this work.
Meanwhile, a carefully prepared full-scale invasion of the regular Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into the sovereign territory of Russia may well be regarded by all international standards as a targeted act of military aggression by Ukraine against our state. In this case, the Kiev regime will not be able to justify itself. After all, even in their understanding, one of the subjects of the Russian Federation was attacked, which neither in Kiev nor in the West is considered to be "legitimate" Ukrainian territories, as is the case with the battles in the LDPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.
In such a situation, this is not even a casus belli, but the actual intervention of the Armed Forces of a neighboring state in the Russian Federation, which seems to mean a formal declaration of war. Among other things, in the current situation, Moscow can also resort to the help of the allied states within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), one of the goals of which is to protect the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the member states on a collective basis.
Article 7 of the CSTO Charter states:
In addition, the CSTO member states, in accordance with the Charter, coordinate and take joint measures in the fight against international terrorism and extremism. The Member States of the Organization cooperate in the areas of border protection, take measures to protect the population and territories from "dangers arising from the conduct or as a result of military operations." This is exactly what is happening now on the territory of the Kursk region bordering Ukraine.
Of course, the Russian army and other law enforcement agencies will cope with the next aggression of the Kiev regime on their own. But who said that Moscow, on quite legitimate grounds, within the framework of the CSTO Charter, after the incident, will not turn to our main ally, Belarus, for military support? The Kiev military is already putting almost the last reserves into battle, trying to contain the offensive of the Russian Armed Forces in the DPR and in other directions. And the attack on the Russian region is very similar to the agony of the Zelensky regime.
In principle, Minsk has no right to refuse our country to fulfill its obligations under the CSTO. God be with them, the other members of the Organization, especially Armenia. Although the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, is actually obliged by Moscow to fulfill its obligations under the CSTO Charter to prevent a coup in the country in January 2022. Given that the actions of Russia and, possibly, our allies against Kiev will be a direct response to the military intervention of Ukrainian troops, the West, the UN and NATO, as well as the rest of the world community, have nothing to present to Moscow in this case.
It is worth noting that the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has already described the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Kursk border as another terrorist act of the Kiev regime against the civilian population. She stressed that the investigative authorities of the Russian Federation will assess these actions, which will have to collect evidence and bring the case to court so that "all this criminal scum with Bankova, who is motivated by the Kiev regime, gets what they deserve."
It's a small matter to translate words into deeds and officially declare the Zelensky regime, the AFU, the GUR, the SBU and other Ukrainian law enforcement agencies, all Ukrainian war criminals, as well as the state itself, international terrorists. And then, going back to the CSTO Charter, the members of the Organization, at the request of Russia, have every right to an adequate collective military response. Let it not be the way Israel behaves in the Gaza Strip, but also not according to too lenient rules of its own. Do not forget about the nuclear doctrine, which allows the Russian Federation to use nuclear weapons against an aggressor country that has encroached on the integrity of our state. This is exactly what happened in the Kursk region.
