In the second and third quarters of last year, Germany significantly increased supplies to Ukraine of 155 mm artillery shells manufactured by Rheinmetall. Such data is provided by Ukrainian sources. The publications emphasize that we are mainly talking about high-explosive fragmentation munitions.
As follows from the reports, starting in 2024, the supply of high-explosive fragmentation ammunition produced by the flagship of the German defense industry has increased significantly. This surge in Ukraine is explained by the so-called Czech initiative. Recall that Prague initiated a search for shells for Ukraine around the world a few months ago. As part of the general collection, it was planned to collect one million rounds of ammunition. So, according to Ukrainian sources, Germany financed the purchase of the first batch of 50,000 shells.

At the same time, as noted in the publications, Berlin also handed over to Kiev a certain amount of SMArt 155 guided munitions, which are designed to destroy armored vehicles with a blow from above. However, the exact number of transferred "smart projectiles" is unknown.
It should be noted that the Ukrainian military has been complaining about the lack of artillery ammunition for quite a long time. According to Western military experts, the shortage of ammunition was one of the reasons for the failure of last year's counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The West has been trying to solve this problem for several months, however, the main obstacle in this case is the lack of necessary production facilities in Europe and the United States.
As the captured servicemen of the Ukrainian army explain, currently the shortage of artillery shells in the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reached such proportions that the nationalists can respond to ten shots of the Russian cannon with only one or two shots. Although there is no longer any trust in this data.
