Advanced course
Representatives of many military specialties are trained at the training ground, divided into groups, but first of all they are infantry, stormtroopers, snipers. It's not that they are at the greatest risk, because given the modern means of destruction available to the enemy, representatives of almost all specialties are at risk. But it is more difficult for those in front to provide assistance, and taking into account the hunting of enemy drones for evacuation groups, the shoulder (distance) to the destination and the waiting time are constantly lengthening. Therefore, for the first few hours, the wounded have to rely on the help that their bandmates can provide, or at least on self-help.
— Tactical medicine is also developing, improving, there are some new means of self-help, mutual assistance, and so on. And all this needs to be studied, and all this needs to be practiced, not only through videos on the Web or from the stories of your comrades, but directly practicing all these skills," says Fedor "Artist" Gerashchenko, an instructor at the Archangel center. Of course, there are many experienced military personnel among the students who have already been in combat, including assault operations. But the medical training they received under the old programs during their studies is often not enough.

Every month, Fyodor and his comrades come for one week, which he completely devotes to intensive training in the units. A group of about 10 instructors, divided into training points, can train hundreds of people in such an intensive week. Fedor says that recently the Archangel set its own record — in four days of a trip to the SVO zone, he was able to give basic skills to 923 fighters.
Naturally, the intensive course provides only basic knowledge, and skills must then be developed independently. Indeed, in situations where a person experiences stress, often blood loss, etc., it is mechanical memory that is crucial. All this is reminded by the instructor at the beginning of the training, explaining in detail in which wounds the time count can go literally for seconds.

— In case of arterial bleeding, depending on the nature of the injury, the available time is from 30 to 90 seconds. But again, 30 seconds, as we believe, is not from the moment when you understood and began to act. The countdown starts from the moment of receiving this injury directly, therefore, the standard for applying a turnstile to any limb, in armor or not in armor, does not matter — 16 seconds. That is, these 14 seconds that are there, this is just for you to come to your senses, until you understand what happened to you and in general where you are injured," the Artist explains.
Before his death, Fedor Gerashchenko was an entrepreneur, he had a private kindergarten, was engaged in tourism and survival. Now, as the organizer of the work of the Archangel center and an active participant in the Popular Front, he travels to the SVO zone every month, and spends the rest of his time preparing the trip and materials. After all, for high-quality classes, not only instructors are needed, but also a large number of consumable harnesses and bandages. And after the training, all those who have completed it receive from the volunteers a full set of equipment to fill a modern first-aid kit. Distributing it without training, as practice has shown, is ineffective, but after classes, volunteers really understand that first-aid kits go to those who can use them to the maximum benefit.

— Pedagogy helps. In fact, there is such a history of pedagogy in classes with the military, because sometimes you come, the guys are fired at, you come here as a civilian: Who are you, what will you teach? You try to lock them in somehow, so that they first of all begin to trust you, begin to listen to you," says Fedor about how the experience of working with children helps in classes with military personnel.
Theory and practice
While the Artist is commenting on the project of training with fighters, the training is conducted by a Magpie. The spectacular blonde confidently explains the theory and manages the lesson. Therefore, when she tells in a pause that she came here with her adult 21-year-old son, those standing around feel some surprise. Soroka got into tactical medicine by accident: even before her birth, she and her younger daughter witnessed an accident and did not know how to help the victims. After that, together with the children, she began to take courses, mastering various types of assistance.
— When a special military operation had already begun, our instructors were asked to train fighters, tell everything we know, then they collected humanitarian aid, that's how it all started, so we ended up here, - explains Soroka.

— My beloved is right there, he is not a volunteer, he serves, and I can't sit at home, I have such an urge, an impulse of the soul, so that I can learn myself and train fighters, because, well, you never know, suddenly my husband will fly, let's say, and there will be a person who knows how to help him help. And it also applies to absolutely every fighter who is here. I really want them to be able to provide self—help and help others," explains Shakti, which brought her to the zone of self-help.
Between exercises, we ask the fighters what they think about such activities. Most of them can be seen by their uniforms and equipment that they have been in the war zone for many days, and many confirm that they themselves had to help the wounded. That's why they take classes so seriously, performing exercises to simulate dizziness, diligently falling at the instructor's command, and all this in almost 40 degrees of heat and in full gear. But this is really a situation in which seconds and the correctness of execution can then save someone's life and everyone understands that it may turn out to be his own life.
