During the development of the Marfa, the results of the tests conducted after the return of the Fedor to Earth were taken into account

Cosmonauts Anna Kikina and Dmitry Petelin took part in an experiment to control an anthropomorphic robot combined with a mobile platform and functioning autonomously. This was told by the press service of the CPC (Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center).

As told in the CPC, the mobile anthropomorphic robot "Marfa" can be called the heir to the robot "Fedor", with which cosmonauts Alexander Skvortsov and Alexey Ovchinin conducted the experiment "Tester" on board the ISS in 2019.

During the development of the Marfa, the results of the tests carried out after the return of the Fedor to Earth were taken into account. The CPC shared the details:

The current prototype "in the future implies the potential possibility of working on the surface of the Moon." For example, Marfa can collect soil. In its "hands" in terrestrial conditions, it will hold up to 5 kg of cargo, which is equivalent to 30 kg on an Earth satellite! Android works at the expense of batteries, now, under experimental conditions, its charging lasts for 2.5 hours, but in the future, in the case of using Marfa on the Moon, it is assumed to use more powerful energy sources that will allow you to work autonomously 24/7.

Marfa has several control modes. The robot can act automatically, but in case of emergency situations, the astronaut controls it manually. Anna Kikina explained:

The peculiarity of the current testing was that two operators worked: one controlled the mobile platform, the other through a copying device — an anthropomorphic robot.
