A mobile bakery kitchen has been developed for the Russian army. The new complex is mounted on the chassis of a high-pass truck, in the back of which there is a bakery, a special device for heating semi-finished products and a food warehouse. Such a kitchen can provide hot food to a company of soldiers for three days. Experts note that the novelty will increase the efficiency of supplying soldiers and officers with hot food and bread in the field, which will have a positive impact on the combat capability of units.

Three in one

The mobile bakery kitchen is designed for the food service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. All the necessary equipment that allows you to combine a kitchen, a bakery and a warehouse for storing food is located in the closed back of the truck. It is mounted on the chassis of the highly passable KamAZ-5350. For cooking food and bread, it is proposed to use semi-finished products, including freeze-dried products, which are now widespread, sources in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation told Izvestia.

The food supply is designed so that cooks can feed up to a company of soldiers for three days without restocking. If necessary, in combat conditions, the complex will provide hot food and bread to up to 500 fighters within an hour.

The interlocutors of Izvestia told that the interior space of the bakery kitchen is divided into several zones. In the front part of the body there is a special device that allows you to make fresh bread from semi-finished products. There is also a window in the wall of the van for its distribution. There is a place for a kitchen in the central part.

In the back there is a warehouse for semi-finished bread and cassettes with freeze-dried products, as well as a special boiler. Hot meals are served to the personnel through a window at the end of the body.

It is proposed to cook freeze-dried products using a special boiler that can heat water to a temperature of 80-90 degrees and feed it into cassettes with freeze-dried semi-finished products, bringing them to readiness within a few minutes.

According to the calculations of the developers, the new bakery kitchen will reduce the volume of food transportation and diesel fuel consumption by 30%, and reduce the time required for cooking by 70%. This will eventually reduce by 30% the fleet of technical equipment of the food service in the army units.

The army does not fight without a field kitchen, military expert Alexei Leonkov told Izvestia.

— The famous phrase "war is war, and lunch is according to the schedule" refers to just that, — he reminded. — If you sit on a dry ration all the time, then the health of the fighters will not be so good, and they will not be so willing to run into the attack. You need a full-fledged hot meal, proteins, carbohydrates. Previously, there were separate towed kitchens, separate bread makers. Now we get, in fact, everything in one, which, of course, is better.

The power of the kitchen

Currently, we do not have such a universal complex in the army — this is certainly an innovative project, says Colonel Alexander Perendzhiev, Associate professor at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

— It turns out that such a complex will be able to provide a platoon or company not only with fresh and hot food, but also bread, — he noted. — The field kitchen is designed to cook food for four mouths, but now more compact compounds are often used, such capacities are unnecessary for them. Another advantage is mobility. The field kitchen needs to make a stop to start cooking. The new complex allows you to do a lot on the go — bake the first batches of bread, cut salads. This reduces cooking time, and in addition, allows you to feed people on the march. A portable warehouse of products is a guarantee of the autonomy of the unit. All this increases the efficiency of supplying soldiers and officers with hot meals and bread in the field.

The expert noted that our military chefs have always been "masters of their craft" and they will master the new complex without problems.

"Since Soviet times, they have been prepared at the school of military chefs in one of the large garrisons in the Moscow region," Perendzhiev recalled. — There has always been a selection of the most worthy fighters, there was strict discipline and good training. Our cook receives shooting training — he knows how to handle a machine gun and grenades, can stand up for himself, is morally stable. But, of course, he's a great cook. A few years ago, NATO military personnel queued up at our field kitchens at international army competitions.

Thousands of loaves

New field bakeries are being deployed by the Russian army in the area of a special military operation. In particular, the Novorossiysk Guards Mountain unit of the Airborne forces of the Dnepr group in the Zaporozhye region and the South group of troops in the Donetsk direction have them.

Bakers of the Novorossiysk Airborne Forces unit move behind the advanced units and bake more than 3 thousand loaves of bread per day for military personnel and civilians of settlements liberated from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It takes 50 minutes from laying the dough to the finished loaf. Hot bread is immediately delivered to the line of contact.

Specialists of the logistics support (MTO) of the South group of troops have deployed a mobile field bakery. During the day, it allows you to bake about 2 tons of bread, which is delivered to the positions of combat units in the Donetsk direction. It is important that the production capabilities of the complex completely cover the needs of the Russian group.
