The American company IntelliOptix presented an air-detonation ammunition programming complex developed jointly with Bale Defense and Rheinmetall, designed to be installed on 40 mm automatic grenade launchers Mk-19.
As indicated in the Infodefensa publication, one of the biggest drawbacks that the Mk-19 has so far been unable to overcome was its limitation in launching programmable air-detonation munitions that can be effectively used to defeat hidden targets or even as protection against drones. Although there are 40mm DM131 programmable grenades developed by Rheinmetall, the system did not have data entry equipment.

The new solution allows the Mk-19 to use the DM131 without having to create expensive modifications to the grenade launcher.
The AMO-19 complex installed on them includes a last-generation sight developed by IntelliOptix, called MMO-Mk19. In addition, a laser rangefinder, a main control unit and an infrared LED terminal have been added to transmit information in the first seconds of firing.

The AMO-19 complex
The firing process involves detecting a target using the MMO-Mk19 sight, followed by setting the range of fire using a rangefinder and issuing ammunition algorithms according to which explosions will be carried out at a certain distance and sequence.
