During a recent visit to the Academy of Defense Sciences, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un inspected various models of weapons systems developed by the country's defense industry, including a new wheeled tank destroyer.
The new combat vehicle, resembling the Chinese-made ST1 8x8 tank destroyer or the Italian Centauro, is based on the M-2020 8x8 armored personnel carrier.
The main wheeled armored vehicle of the DPRK army is the M-2010, which is almost identical to the original Russian BTR-80. At the same time, the recently launched M-2020 platform already bears traces of Western influence (which is typical for the development of North Korean armored vehicles in recent years), imitating many components of the M1126 Stryker.

Based on the M-2020 chassis, the new tank destroyer is equipped with a 105 mm rifled cannon, a 12.7mm twin machine gun and a 7.62mm machine gun mounted in a remotely controlled turret.
