The Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering (Tsniitochmash) handed over to the military a batch of 9x21 mm pistol cartridges with a bullet of increased penetration. This is reported by the Kalashnikov press service.
Tsniitochmash fulfilled the contract for the supply of armor-piercing cartridges 7H29 caliber 9×21 mm to the troops. The delivery parameters are not disclosed, and other details are also provided. The previous delivery of a large batch of similar cartridges was made a year ago, in early June 2023.
According to the press service of the concern, armor-piercing cartridges with the 7H29 index have increased penetration capacity and are designed to defeat enemy personnel, including those protected by bulletproof vests. The cartridge was developed at Tsniitochmash in the second half of the 1990s for use by the entire range of 9x21 mm caliber weapons, including for all modifications of the SR-1 Gyurza pistol and the SR-2 Heather submachine gun. It was adopted in 1996.

The high penetration effect of the 7H29 cartridge is provided by a bullet of an original design consisting of a heat-strengthened steel core, a lead jacket and a bimetallic shell. The nose part of the core protruding from the shell reduces the loss of energy and thereby increases its armor piercing.
The 7H29 cartridge (bullet weight – 6.7 g, muzzle velocity – 410 m/s) provides high accuracy of fire, as well as a powerful penetrating effect when hitting live targets and natural obstacles at ranges up to 200 m and second-level personal protective equipment at a distance of up to 50 meters.
