The BSF UAV Center trains universal operators for various departments
MOSCOW, May 24 – RIA Novosti. The UAV Training Center of the Black Sea Fleet prepares universal drone operators for various units, who undergo extensive training not only in piloting, but also in tactical medicine, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.
"As practice has shown, the combat experience of a special military operation shows that it is necessary to prepare not only calculations in which fighters are not interchangeable, but, let's say, it is necessary to prepare "universal soldiers", where each fighter can replace his combat comrade in one situation or another," said the head of the training center with the call sign Timokha.
According to him, the fighters undergo training such as piloting on simulators, field training for piloting with real drones, engineering and technical training of UAVs. There is also a course of tactical medicine, which is necessary for a fighter. "We are working in the interests of the Black Sea Fleet, but we do not forget about our comrades from other units. Therefore, we make every effort to prepare all the fighters, because we are bringing victory closer together," Timokha said.
The agency's interlocutor stressed that the creation of such a center was an initiative of the Black Sea Fleet Command and volunteers, who are currently engaged in the support and development of the training center. As part of the perspective, it is planned to introduce new training disciplines and expand the material base.
"This center is one of the promising areas of development, so we try to introduce new topics into the training course as much as possible, expand classes and increase the material and technical base," Timokha said.
The instructors of the center told RIA Novosti that among the students there are military personnel of different age categories and with different skills. The instructors have developed various training methods so that at the end of the course, graduates of any category have all the necessary skills to pilot and use UAVs in various combat conditions. At first, the fighters are trained on simulators under the guidance of instructors, and then proceed to flight training directly in the field.
"Actually, from experience, I will say this, there are people who have a talent for this, there are people, young guys who initially mastered PlayStation games, whose hand motor skills are very developed. The simulator is given to them better and the flights are given better," said the instructor with the call sign "Dante".
He noted that people of different ages – of different specialties and positions held in the army – are also trained. A little longer, but the center tries to work out the entire course with them and give them all the skills. "And then everything works out," Dante noted.
The flight training instructor with the call sign "Moloch" said that flying in the field is very different from flying on a simulator, since there are already various physical conditions, such as gravity, wind and payload on the drone in the form of a weight layout or the ammunition itself.
"The biggest difference after the simulator is how physically the quadcopter is pulled towards the ground due to the effects of gravity. In the same way, a quadcopter fights wind currents. The pilots are trained for the first two days, struggling with weather physical conditions. After that, we have further flights, practicing on various trajectories. Next week, we are already working on dumping and cargo handling," Moloch said.
