The calculation of the Iskander operational and tactical missile system (OTRK) of the Zapad group of forces struck at a cluster of foreign equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). On May 17, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed the combat work of the calculation with the launch of a missile.
Iskander missile defense systems are located many kilometers from the line of contact, but they are capable of causing enormous damage to the enemy. Iskander missile divisions are on round-the-clock combat duty and are ready to work on targets on the first command. It takes only a few minutes from getting the coordinates of the target to launch.
The OTRK command and staff machine is called the brain of the complex. It is here that the battery commander receives the coordinates of enemy objects on the computer. The new target has been thoroughly worked out by our intelligence. Iskander does not have to be on a hill or an open area during combat work. The complex works effectively in the lowlands or from a forest plantation.
According to the head of the calculation of the Iskander missile launcher with the call sign Bear, during the special operation the complex proved itself exclusively on the positive side, it is quite easy to operate and very effective.
"The last target hit is a cluster of foreign equipment. We have achieved coherence through a lot of training. They also performed combat missions more than once. Each of the calculation can replace any member of the calculation. When setting the task, it takes less than five minutes to start. After the launch, we leave the starting position and go to the technical one," the Bear added.
The Iskander missile defense system refers to high-precision weapons with a firing range of up to 500 km. The warhead of the OTRK missile can destroy almost any target: enemy command posts, columns of equipment, air defense systems.
The ITRC arsenal includes both ballistic and cruise missiles, which put false electronic interference on approach to the target and are practically invulnerable to enemy air defense systems. Cruise missiles can go at ultra-low altitudes and bend around the terrain, it is impossible to detect them.
Leisure time in the dugouts for military personnel is varied. In their free time from combat work, for example, they read children's letters. This time the gift came from Washington — a collection of letters to participants of a special military operation from students of the school at the Russian Embassy in the United States as part of the All-Russian campaign "Letter to a soldier".
These letters traveled half the globe to reach their recipients. They contain simple but very important words that support and inspire Russian fighters.
"It is very pleasant when you read such letters, they warm your soul very much, you always know that you are expected at home. It is very pleasant that the children are worried about our country and for us, although they are very far away," one of the servicemen shared after reading the letters from the guys.
On May 1, the Ministry of Defense reported that Russian servicemen of the Zapad group of forces in the Kupyansk direction with the help of the Iskander missile defense system destroyed two installations of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) HIMARS. The attack was carried out in the Kharkiv region near the village of Lelyukovka.
On March 20, Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak told how news from the rear helped the gunners of the Western Group of Troops in the Kupyansk direction to maintain morale. Gifts and letters are often sent to the front. This time, they received letters from children from the school at the Russian Embassy in the United States.
