Today, the All-Russian public organization "Union of Machine Builders of Russia" celebrates the 17th anniversary of its formation. Sergey Chemezov, General Director of Rostec State Corporation and Chairman of Soyuzmash of Russia, highly appreciated the role of the organization in ensuring the technological independence and defense capability of the country, solving key tasks for the production of civilian products and congratulated all Russian machine builders on this holiday.

"The expert and legislative activity of the Union contributes to solving issues of technological independence, staffing, uninterrupted and sustainable operation of the defense industry. The member enterprises of our organization selflessly fulfill the state defense order and key civilian programs," said Sergey Chemezov.

Soyuzmash of Russia traces its history back to April 28, 2007, when the founding congress of the organization was held in Moscow, and the head of the initiative group, Sergey Chemezov, justified the need to create such an organization, named the main goals and directions of its upcoming activities.

Today, Soyuzmash unites all the largest enterprises and organizations of mechanical engineering, as well as the leading specialized universities of the country: Rostec and Roscosmos State Corporations, Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region, Tactical Missile Armament Corporation, Association of Technical Universities and others. Currently, over 100 thousand individuals, more than 1300 enterprises and organizations employing 1 million 200 thousand people are members of the Union.

The Union of Machine Builders of Russia is based on its regional branches, which have been established in 77 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, where more than 560 local branches operate.

In addition, Soyuzmash of Russia, aiming to create favorable legislative conditions for the dynamic and sustainable industrial development of the country, actively participates in legislative activities. Its representatives took part in the development of such key federal laws as "On Industrial Policy", "On the State Defense Order", "On Strategic Planning", "On Education", "On Public-private Partnership", "On the Federal contract system" and others.

One of the priorities of the Union's work is international cooperation. Thus, since its formation, the Union has established close partnerships with countries outside the EU zone – China, Brazil, India, Vietnam, and the Persian Gulf countries, and has also brought a new level of interaction with colleagues within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. The work touched upon the opening of alternative sales markets, the building of new cooperative ties and the search for optimal logistics routes.

Currently, Soyuzmash of Russia pays special attention to solving the key problem of the current stage of development of Russian production – the shortage of qualified personnel, the relevance of which has only increased due to the increase in production of military products and increased work on import substitution. In this regard, the position of the Union is the need to create an end-to-end system of training highly qualified specialists, starting from school and up to postgraduate education, including increasing the prestige of workers and engineering professions.

To this end, Soyuzmash of Russia organizes the multidisciplinary engineering Olympiad "Zvezda", with the support of Rostec and in cooperation with the Association "League for Assistance to Defense Enterprises" and Rosmolodezh, holds the International Youth Industrial Forum "Engineers of the Future", and together with Bauman Moscow State Technical University – the All-Russian Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists "The Future of Mechanical Engineering Russia".

The Union is also the founder of the annual V.A. Revunov Award, which is awarded for its contribution to the development of special-purpose and civilian products, and the B.I. Tikhomirov Award for its contribution to the development of design and construction of industrial facilities and the introduction of advanced engineering solutions.

"I am convinced that the Union's activities will continue to gain momentum. We have a lot of interesting and very important work ahead of us. What we do today largely determines what our country will be like tomorrow," Sergey Chemezov stressed.
