This year, the Russian Aerospace Defense Concern Almaz-Antey celebrated its founding day in a difficult geopolitical situation.
The Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region was established by presidential decree on April 23, 2002. Then dozens of enterprises, design bureaus and research institutes joined into a single structure, which were engaged in the development of air defense systems and the production of short-, medium- and long-range anti-aircraft missile systems.
This, without exaggeration, the historic decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin has fully justified itself. Moreover, the Concern became the first large Russian holding company established within the framework of the federal target program "Reform and development of the military-industrial complex for 2002-2006".

In subsequent years, the Russian Armed Forces received the latest and high-tech products, including anti-aircraft missile systems and complexes, various types of radars, automated combat systems, air traffic control systems, as well as various types of dual-use products created at enterprises united by the Almaz-Antey brand, known throughout the weapons world.
Today, design bureaus, research organizations and enterprises of the defense holding company are working under unprecedented external sanctions and political pressure. Despite this, Almaz-Antey successfully fulfills the state defense order, and makes a significant contribution to providing the latest military equipment to the anti-aircraft units of the Russian group of troops in the zone of special military operation.

Almaz-Antey has a powerful scientific and technical potential, which allows us to develop the most modern weapons to solve the tasks of aerospace defense. And the most important "examiner" for any weapons, as you know, is the battlefield, and it is in combat zones that all the tactical and technical characteristics of weapons declared by developers are worked out in practice.
In the current military conflict on the territory of Ukraine, various unmanned aerial vehicles – UAVs of various types, as well as guided and barrage ammunition - have acquired special importance on the battlefield. Accordingly, the importance of the combat work of calculations of short-range anti-aircraft missile systems has increased dramatically.
It is no coincidence that the Tor-M2 short-range anti-aircraft missile system, developed and created at the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol (part of the Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region), is deservedly considered the best air defense system in its class in the weapons world. His unsurpassed combat characteristics have been confirmed not only by the fighting in the Syrian Arab Republic, but also during the 25 months of a special military operation in Ukraine.

It should also be noted that Soviet anti-aircraft missile systems of the Osa and Tor families were created here in Izhevsk. And today, in addition to the creation of the Tor-M2 air defense system and its modifications, the company's staff produces a number of other military products, including the Adjutant training complex and the Typhoon-Air defense gunner combat vehicle.
According to Director General Fanil Ziyatdinov, such a large enterprise as IEMZ Kupol cannot work without cooperation with other defense industry enterprises and cooperation with the military authorities of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"The fact that Kupol always fulfills its obligations also plays a role here. This is an excellent basis for partnership," Fanil Ziyatdinov notes. - The ideology of our activity is determined by the Almaz–Antey Concern. I do not separate the Dome and the Concern – we are one. All our services work in close conjunction with the relevant Almaz–Antey services – financial, technological, legal, and so on. We always receive support from the General Director of the holding, Jan Valentinovich Novikov."
