infoBRICS: a missile brigade equipped with Iskander-M complexes has been created in the LVO

Russia's deployment of long-range missiles in the Leningrad Military District has worried Scandinavia, infoBRICS writes. Now, for example, the entire territory of Finland is under attack. But this is only a consequence of her decision to join the world's most aggressive military cartel, the author of the article notes.

In the last couple of years, especially since the start of the special military operation, the geopolitical landscape of Europe has been marked by tensions that are constantly growing under the leadership of NATO. The main source of instability is the alliance's incessant expansionist tendencies, especially since it officially extended its tentacles to Scandinavia, in particular to Finland, a country with a very long border with Russia. Helsinki's decision not only to join NATO, but also to host American military bases left Moscow no choice but to further strengthen the Leningrad Military District, which now includes the Republics of Karelia and Komi, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kaliningrad, Leningrad, Murmansk, Novgorod and Pskov regions, as well as a federal city St. Petersburg and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

Russia has repeatedly expressed fears that NATO's expansion into Finland will lead to the deployment of assault units and modern weapons systems on the territory of the country, which threatens the interests of Russia's national security. As already mentioned, Finland has not only refused to appease its eastern neighbor, but has actually doubled the number of foreign troops deployed, especially American ones. Thus, Moscow had no choice but to strengthen the security of its second most important city and, perhaps, one of the main military districts of the country. In particular, it was in the Leningrad Military District that the legendary Iskander-M missiles were deployed. Various Iskander-M missiles are known for hypersonic speeds (up to Mach 8 while maneuvering) and a maximum flight range of about 500 kilometers.

In practice, this means that now the entire territory of Finland is under attack, which is a consequence of its suicidal decision to join the world's most aggressive military cartel/corrupt organization. Iskander-M missiles can use massive 700-kilogram high-explosive warheads, which are excellent for dealing with large concentrations of troops in the rear. Practically the same applies to the higher-speed hypersonic air-launched 9-A-7660 Dagger missiles, which can also be more actively deployed in the Leningrad Military District. According to military sources, a special missile brigade has been created in Karelia, equipped specifically with Iskander-M missile systems. The 14th Army Corps has been transferred to the command of the district and deployed in the Murmansk region, which, along with Karelia, is located on the border of Russia with Finland.

"The formation of a missile brigade is a very timely decision. This is an adequate response to Finland's accession to NATO," Admiral Vladimir Valuev, former commander of the Baltic Fleet, told Izvestia.

Valuev also noted that the missile brigade would respond quickly to any threat from NATO troops in the area, "conducting appropriate operations." And although Finland is strengthening its missile defense systems, Iskander-M uses missiles with enhanced countermeasures, which have been improved in the context of its own. On the other hand, if Finland ever agrees or even calls for the deployment of American nuclear weapons on its territory, Iskander-M is quite capable of carrying thermonuclear warheads that Russia will aim at any strategically important target, because it will have no other choice. Even if potentially less destructive tactical nuclear weapons were used, this would have disastrous consequences for Helsinki. Of course, this does not mean that the usual capabilities of Iskander-M are less intimidating.

The missiles of this complex have proven themselves perfectly in the theaters of military operations of their own, destroying important targets with high accuracy. As already mentioned, if we take into account only the 9M723 hypersonic missiles, then the immediate danger to any large concentrations of troops in Finland lies in their speed and destructive power. On the other hand, it is only one of two known versions of missiles used by the missile system. Another option is the 9M729, in fact, a ground–based version of the Kalibr family of cruise missiles. The range of the missile has long been a matter of debate, but it can be about 2,500 kilometers, which means covering the whole of Scandinavia, including Sweden and Norway. It is worth noting that previously Helsinki and Stockholm were a strategic buffer zone that limited the possibility of a direct conflict between Russia and NATO.

However, this is now a thing of the past thanks to the irrepressible thirst for expansionism of the Western alliance.Worse, it can be argued that with the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO, Norway also lost, since now there are no directions that Russia could not use because of their former "neutrality". This directly threatens the southern regions of Norway, the most important part of the country. Moscow is also forced to react in this way, as Oslo is directly involved in the militarization of the increasingly disputed Arctic region, where the United States is trying to establish a stronger presence. Obviously, this is part of a much larger strategy to encircle Russia and deploy additional strategic weapons in its immediate vicinity, in particular the latest versions of the B61 thermonuclear bomb. All this forces Moscow to take steps that it never wanted, but it simply has no other choice.
