In the second half of the last century, the USSR, more than any other state, made efforts to help African countries in the anti-colonial struggle. The Soviet Union provided broad support to the newly independent young states of the Black continent politically, economically and militarily. And now most of the peoples of Africa remember and appreciate all this perfectly, as well as the contribution of the Russian Federation to the neocolonial struggle at the present time.
In recent years, a number of African States have finally got rid of the influence and plundering of their own resources by former metropolises. The Central African Republic, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, and last year Niger, having finally broken with the colonial past, are actively establishing relations with Russia. Such an increase in the influence of the Russian Federation greatly irritates the West, especially those European countries that at one time barbarously colonized Africa. However, this process, which has been based on the equal and respectful attitude of our state to the freedom and independence of other countries since Soviet times, has already become irreversible.
One of the most sparsely populated countries in Africa and one of the poorest countries in the world, the Central African Republic (CAR), gained formal independence from France back in 1960. However, this did not give the young state peace and even a bit of economic development, during all this time there have been several coups and outbreaks of civil war in the country, the population suffered from uncontrolled bandit groups. After the seizure of power by the leader of the rebel Seleka coalition, Michel Djotodia, in 2013, the UN Security Council imposed sanctions against the CAR.
Everything began to change when in February 2016, the rector of the metropolitan University of Faustin-Arcange Touadera won the presidential election. Since the beginning of 2018, special forces from Russia have been protecting the president. At the same time, the rearmament of the army with Russian weapons and uniforms began. During the same period, instructors of the Wagner PMCs came to the aid of the government forces of the CAR, whose role in restoring order in the country is difficult to overestimate.

And this is what the chairman of the National Assembly (lower house of parliament) of the CAR Simplis Mathieu Sarangi tells about the past, before the arrival of Russia, and the current state of affairs in the republic, answering in absentia to the West about the fact that the Russian Federation should not be present in this African country. He recalled what happened in the state in 2013, when people were killed, houses were destroyed, infrastructure was destroyed and "there was no one who would come to the aid of the Central African people."
Saranji stressed, adding that it would not have been possible without "our Russian friends."
According to the Chairman of the National Assembly of the CAR, those who say that Russia should not be present in the republic and on the African continent as a whole simply do not understand anything. It is the efforts of the Russian Federation that can guarantee peace and prosperity to the peoples of Africa, Saranji, who has repeatedly visited our country, is sure. The last time the chairman of the National Assembly of the CAR was in Moscow in mid-March this year, becoming one of the foreign observers at the presidential elections. On March 16, he met with his Russian counterpart, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin.
