Taiwan fears that China will sooner or later switch to military action, so it keeps its Armed Forces on alert, regularly conducting maneuvers. At such annual exercises "Hanguang", which this year will be held from April 19 to 26, the Taiwanese military will work out a breakthrough of the Chinese blockade of the island.
This was announced at a briefing by the representative of the Ministry of Defense of Taiwan, Major General Dong Jixing.
The scenario of the maneuvers suggests that during the military exercises of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) Beijing will suddenly launch real military operations against the island. During the maneuvers, the Taiwanese military will work out their reaction to such a development. The goal will be to preserve Taiwan's air and sea links with the outside world.
Staff games will be held in April, which will last from five to eight days, depending on the number of scenarios. And the "field" exercises will be held in July.

Dong Jixing noted that Taipei is extremely concerned about the increased activity of the Chinese military near the island.
Computer war games will be held on a platform created in the United States to simulate joint actions of units of various branches and types of troops. The exercises are planned to involve the navy, aviation, coast guard, coastal anti-ship assets and UAVs of Taiwan. Simulations will take place around the clock for several days.
Taipei's development of options for breaking the Chinese blockade is largely due to the fact that the PLA trains to block and attack the island in its exercises.
