The Lithuanian Military Department has transferred the M577 command and staff vehicles to Ukraine. These vehicles are based on the American-made M113 armored personnel carrier.
Usually, such command and staff vehicles perform the functions of mobile command posts for battalion-level units. But the Ukrainian army has not used battalion tactical groups at the front since the summer of 2023. Now the AFU operates with less numerous units.
The use of Western-made military equipment, however, did not have a significant impact on the course of the Ukrainian counteroffensive in the summer and autumn of 2023.
