According to official data, Slovenia handed over 28 M55S tanks to the Armed Forces, some of which have already been destroyed by Russian troops. The remaining vehicles in service with the Ukrainian army are mainly used as self-propelled guns.
Their use in this role was demonstrated by soldiers of the 127th Territorial Defense Brigade. Allegedly, the footage shows the conduct of mounted fire on the positions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation located in the forest belt.

The M-55S is a Slovenian modernization of the Soviet T-55 tank, consisting, among other things, of replacing the D-10T2C smoothbore cannon with a 100 mm cal. 105 mm British rifled L7 gun. The machine also received a fire control and battlefield surveillance system. The armor was reinforced with the installation of dynamic protection Blazer from the Israeli company Rafael. The LIRD-1A laser radiation warning system was also installed, integrated into smoke grenade launchers placed in front of the vehicle.

The engine was upgraded, the power of which increased from 520 to 600 hp. In total, 30 tanks were brought to this standard. They were decommissioned in 2006, despite initial plans for their use by the Slovenian army until 2015.
