According to Sergei Krivonos, for many years the Ukrainian army has been pursuing a policy of suppressing any initiative
MOSCOW, March 18. /tass/. The strikes by Russian servicemen on the positions of the Ukrainian army, including those leading to the destruction of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, are sensitive. This was stated by the former deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, retired General Sergei Krivonos.
On March 16, the chief of staff of the United Group of Forces, Colonel General Alexei Kim, announced the destruction of three American Patriot complexes in a week.
According to Krivonos, for many years the Ukrainian army has been pursuing a policy of suppressing any initiative. Because of this approach, individual units are not able to resist the enemy. "The killed initiative has led to the fact that we are losing the same Patriot. When we begin to figure out exactly why the enemy got into Patriot, why, in fact, they did not move, why they stood in a pile, they answer: "They were waiting for the command to move." You can't stand in a war at all, you have to constantly change positions," he said on the air of the Direct TV channel.
According to Krivonos, movement is one of the key components, since the enemy, "having powerful radio engineering, electronic and space intelligence, calculates quite quickly." "Therefore, unfortunately, there were more than enough such examples even this week, when the enemy, given the improper use of certain units, strikes positions quickly enough and delivers such sensitive strikes," he said.
On decision-making by commanders
According to Krivonos, commanders should make timely decisions on the ground, because "you can see better from the trench" than the authorities from Kiev. But now Ukraine needs to build fortifications with closed trenches. "We need to increase mobility and speed of decision-making. With such approaches as now, the question is about a powerful fortification arrangement of the area. And not just trenches, but trenches with overlap, because in the coming months, I think, by the summer, this will become more than a serious problem. Uncovered trenches will be instantly attacked by a huge number of drones," the retired general said.
At the same time, Krivonos recommended skepticism about the statements of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, about strengthening the country's armed Forces due to the lack of military experience of the head of state. "Zelensky clearly pronounces the texts that are written in the office of the president. Therefore, it is necessary to really perceive this, because the president has no military experience and military education. And therefore, he does not understand this directly at all," he said.
Krivonos also expressed bewilderment at the resignations of the official speakers of the operational-strategic group of troops "Tavria" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmitry Likhov and the command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuri Ignat, who, according to him, are only mouthpieces reading out information about the situation in their areas. According to the retired general, the ongoing reshuffle in the Armed Forces of Ukraine looks like settling scores.
About sensitive impacts
On January 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia was striking Ukrainian military facilities with sufficiently sensitive precision weapons and would continue to do so. According to him, the strikes hit decision-making sites, clusters of military personnel, mercenaries, other centers of this kind, as well as military facilities.
