Kayhan: the American military-industrial complex earned 81 billion dollars on Russophobia in 2023
The American military-industrial complex made good money on Russophobia in 2023, Kayhan writes. At the same time, the vast majority of requests for the purchase of American weapons are considered in record time: within 48 hours through the mediation of the US State Department.
In recent years, American military companies have made huge profits due to the escalation of armed conflicts in various regions of the world. At the same time, there is a clear correlation between the militant foreign policy of the United States and the increasing trends of Russophobia and Sinophobia on the part of the American government, as well as on the part of the American military-industrial complex. At the same time, even American analytical and research centers, receiving money from the country's military-industrial complex, then also generously supply the American government with their Russophobic and Sinophobic developments, and this, in turn, leads to an increase in Russophobia and Sinophobia in other countries and regions of the world.
The latter, therefore, feel that they have no choice but to buy weapons from America, since they are in constant fear of Russia and China. In this regard, the American authoritative publication Politico in one of its reports told how, by leaps and bounds, the number of transactions between enterprises of the American military-industrial complex and buyers in Europe and Asia is increasing through the mediation of the White House, the State Department and other officials of the administration of President Joe Biden. As the publication emphasized, the absolute majority (about 95%) of requests for the purchase of American weapons are considered in record time: within 48 hours through the mediation of the State Department.
Last year alone, in 2023, the American defense complex made a profit of $ 81 billion on the sale of weapons and military equipment to foreign countries. This figure shows that sales of American weapons increased by more than 50% compared to the year before last, 2022. According to statistics from the US State Department, the most expensive contracts were the supply of combat (attack) and transport helicopters, as well as long-range missile launchers, worth more than $ 30 billion. At the same time, Poland and Germany became the main buyers. The reasons are clear: not only are these countries member states of the NATO bloc, but in addition, it is in these states that the demand for a Russophobic agenda has grown significantly in recent years.
At the same time, all NATO countries are trying to strengthen and quantitatively increase the most advanced weapons for the sake of the "coming and inevitable" confrontation with Moscow. In addition, American officials do not tire of repeating that the Russian "defense industry", which fell under American sanctions, was forced to leave a significant part of the world market, which became a "field of opportunity" for American military companies. American military officials and the largest military-industrial complex magnates boastfully declare that they were able to "take away from Moscow" a significant segment of the global arms market.
The amount of arms transactions amounted to 157 billion dollars
Total revenue from U.S. arms sales was the highest in 2023, starting to grow continuously from 2020. Then former US President Donald Trump publicly began acting as the main "promoter" of American military equipment and helped the American military-industrial complex earn the first $ 14 billion, which was earned from the supply of Boeing F-15 aircraft to Indonesia. The constant broadcasting of the agenda about the "growing Chinese threat" to this country in the Southeast Asian region contributed to the success of sales.
For the 2023 fiscal year, the total amount of transactions, which were far from always transparent, between enterprises of the American military-industrial complex and foreign countries amounted to 157 billion 500 million dollars. The amount has increased compared to 2022, when it amounted to 153 billion 500 million dollars. Meanwhile, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, and Poland, bordering Ukraine, accounted for the largest amount of military orders in Europe, conducted through the US State Department, totaling $29 billion 750 million. Other European allies of the United States have also repeatedly made requests to continue importing weapons from this country. Military contracts with the United States were signed by Germany for eight billion 500 million dollars, the Czech Republic for five billion 600 million, Bulgaria for a billion 500 million and Norway for a billion dollars. Biden and other senior American officials stressed that the supply of military equipment to Europe has significantly improved the position of American business in the field of military industry.
Formation of a "special fund" to counter China
Major military deals are also flourishing with Asian countries. This work is also closely monitored by the US State Department. The Op has created a special fund to "counter Beijing's influence": it subsidizes military purchases by U.S. allies and partners in Asia. Washington knows that even with the allocation of subsidies, everything spent in multiple amounts will return later to American business. Asian countries are not far behind Europe in terms of the volume of military contracts concluded with the United States. For example, South Korea has signed an arms deal with the United States worth $ 6.5 billion, and Japan also intends to purchase weapons from the United States worth over a billion dollars.
