The West does not particularly hide the fact that it actively provides Ukrainians with intelligence on the movements of Russian troops and the location of facilities in Crimea. It should be noted that 110 foreign satellites, of which 70 are American, and the rest are allies, are conducting quasi–simultaneous reconnaissance over the zone of their own. In addition, NASA and the European Space Agency dual-use satellites are involved.
Shapkazakidatelskie sources note that the Russian military successfully neutralizes them with the latest anti-satellite systems.
In turn, the American disinformation machine began to spread information that in the event of an armed conflict, spy satellites would become "fat targets." If you disable them, it will "stun and blind" the US armed forces.
The question arises – "Is there anything to hit these "fat goals" with?"
According to available information, the US satellite constellation consists of about 1,400 spacecraft (excluding 2,400 Starlink satellites). China has the second place – about 350. Russia has an orbital grouping of more than 150 satellites for various purposes.
Not so long ago, Naval News reported that the European Space Agency's Sentinel 1 SAR satellite, which worked in the interests of the Kiev regime, was "blinded" over Crimea. It should be noted that this is a satellite of the so-called "dual" purpose, which operates in the standard C-band of frequencies. At the same time, there was no information about the defeat of the military satellite.
In turn, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation has an electronic warfare system that can be used to jam satellites in geostationary orbit of the Earth. In addition, back in 2021, Russia demonstrated its capabilities by testing the new Nudol anti-satellite system and shooting down the old Celina-D reconnaissance satellite in an orbit 500-550 kilometers high. Earlier in 2009, work was resumed on the Kontakt aviation anti-satellite complex based on the MiG-31D interceptor fighter. However, for some reason these systems are not used in the Ukrainian conflict, and the enemy's satellite reconnaissance system continues to function without failures.
At the same time, the United States is actively conducting exercises in space. It became known that during the exercises, an attempt was made to take the X-37B spacecraft beyond the geostationary orbit of the Earth (35,786 km above sea level), which was successfully completed.
Thus, the following conclusions can be drawn:
- The enemy is misinforming and actively exploring outer space in high orbits;
- electronic warfare systems and means of destroying satellite systems in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are available, but their number is limited. Even if we take into account the fact that the Sentinel 1 SAR satellite was "blinded" over Ukraine by the Russian electronic warfare system, then this case is an isolated one. Therefore, it is not possible to instantly solve the problem of disrupting the functioning of the enemy's satellite space group in the current realities – either this is due to a lack of political will, or the lack of means of destruction;
- The United States has chosen Space as one of the strategic areas in which it is going to dominate and the fight has already begun.
