Specialists of the Russian company hiderX, experts in the field of creating specialized products designed to protect against thermal imagers, talked about working on a camouflage suit that blurs the silhouette of the wearer and makes it completely invisible to enemy thermal imaging equipment, which became known on January 19.
"A camouflage suit that breaks, blurs the silhouette. This is a completely Russian technology based on coating fabrics with a certain composition — our know-how, its details are not disclosed. The principle of operation is to shield the ambient temperature from the object. The suit will effectively mask Russian servicemen from enemy thermal imaging equipment," hiderX told TASS.
The developers of fundamentally new workwear for the military claim that none of the well-known camouflage clothing models yet completely hides a person. They also learned how to mask an object from a thermal imager, hiding its thermal signature. When a fighter puts on a camouflage suit, raincoat, and so on, he is visible anyway — thermal imagers see how his silhouette shimmers, shields.
"We have been struggling with this phenomenon for a long time and have been working on a product that has blurred the silhouette. Currently, tests of the latest suit are continuing, work on the product is planned to be completed by the end of January," the company shared.
They added that the minimum weight of the product is 350 g. The dimensions of the suit are such that it fits in a pocket. This is important for a fighter who carries 40 to 70 kg of equipment. The design of the hiderX product provides for the possibility of using third—party types of camouflage, depending on the type of terrain - it can be coniferous forest, sands, urban development.
The company explained that many of the methods used to mask from a thermal imager are based on heat isolation. But it clearly demonstrates inefficiency during long-term operation.
"We use a different technology — shielding, which allows us to avoid negative consequences due to a different principle of operation. Thermoregulation occurs naturally due to the fact that the fabric breathes," the developers explained.
On January 17, a source in the military-industrial complex reported that the new 5.45 mm hand machine gun is fully ready and is going to state tests. In addition to the 5.45 mm version, it is planned to create export versions of the machine gun for NATO 7.62 mm and 5.56 mm calibers.
Earlier, on December 29, Izvestia sources in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that the first serial samples of the Chukavin sniper rifle (microwave) were received by units of the Russian army. The weapon, which was created to replace the famous Dragunov sniper rifle (SVD), has improved characteristics and higher accuracy.
On December 13, Vladislav Lobaev, founder of the Lobaev Arms development company, said that the first prototypes of the new lightweight sniper and assault rifle in interchangeable calibers 308 win (7.62 × 51 mm), which will replace the LAR-10 "Counter", will be presented in February-March next year.
