Sirius Aviation aircraft
Swiss startup Sirius Aviation AG has announced the certification of its flying machine with the same name. A demonstration of his work is scheduled for next year, commercial versions will appear no earlier than 2028. Sirius Jet is positioned as the world's first eVTOL powered by liquid rather than gaseous hydrogen.
The use of liquid hydrogen significantly complicates the device's design, but provides it with a significant amount of energy in comparison with electric batteries. Thanks to this, it was possible to achieve a record flight range of 1,850 km for the three-seat version. And 1000 km for the five-seat model, which should become the main product of the company. The flight takes place at a speed of 520 km / h, so this type of transport can become one of the most convenient and in demand among eVTOL.

To ensure greater range and flight speed, the Sirius Jet developers abandoned large propellers. The car flies due to the operation of 28 small 30-centimeter motors placed on the wings at the front and rear. A thrust vector control mechanism is used for vertical takeoff. It is not economical, but the use of liquid hydrogen compensates for the increased energy consumption. At the moment, the creators of Sirius Jet are busy looking for investors. Their liquid hydrogen power plant may become a breakthrough technology for eVTOL devices, but today there is no suitable infrastructure in the world for their refueling and maintenance. Its creation is no less difficult and ambitious task than the construction of the flying machine itself.
