The calculation of the Iskander operational and tactical missile system of the Zapad group of forces struck at military infrastructure facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). On January 15, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed missile launches during the combat work of the calculation.
Iskander tactical missile systems are located many kilometers from the line of contact, but they are capable of causing enormous damage to the enemy.
"The launcher was on combat duty. We have a team ready to work. The calculation put the launcher in readiness for a missile strike. After that, the machine started up. The launch was carried out normally. The target is hit. The Iskander complex has proven itself only on the positive side. It has no analogues in the world. It is quite easy to learn and very effective when used for its intended purpose," said the head of the calculation of the Iskander missile launcher with the call sign Utes.
The Iskander missile defense system refers to high-precision weapons with a firing range of up to 500 km. The warhead of the OTRK missile can destroy almost any target: enemy command posts, columns of equipment, air defense systems. The ITRC arsenal includes both ballistic and cruise missiles, which put false electronic interference on approach to the target and are practically invulnerable to enemy air defense systems. Cruise missiles can go at ultra-low altitudes and bend around the terrain, it is impossible to detect them, the defense ministry explained.
For rocket scientists, there is no fundamental difference at what time of day to launch, the defense ministry noted. Iskander missile divisions are on round-the-clock combat duty and are ready to work on targets at the first command. A combat mission can arrive at any moment. It takes a few minutes from getting the coordinates of the target to launch.
The OTRK command and staff machine is called the brain of the entire complex. Here, the battery commander receives coordinates on the computer about where the enemy's facilities are located. The target is planned, thoroughly worked out by intelligence — a well-camouflaged enemy command post.
Along with the launcher, the entire complex changes its location. Command and staff and transport-loading vehicles, a platoon of guards, signalmen. The unit should be in a new place after a certain time after launch. In addition, it is necessary to equip the necessary infrastructure as quickly as possible.
During the entire time of the special military operation, Iskander complexes have repeatedly proven themselves to be a formidable and effective weapon. Successful launches and destroyed targets are proof of this.
On January 6, British analyst Alexander Mercuris reminded Ukraine that Russia has more powerful missiles. He noted that the Russians have not yet used their most advanced Zircon missile, which has already begun to be mass-produced. He admitted that no one knows how many of these are in service, but, the expert stressed, this is a hypersonic missile.
On December 1, Military Watch Magazine reported that the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine increased due to double strikes by Iskander-M missiles from Russian troops. The publication noted that the air defense (air defense) of Ukraine is becoming more critically depleted,
On November 25, military expert Drago Bosnik, in an article for InfoBRICS, admitted that the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces) would destroy the AFU air bases with F-16 fighter jets with Dagger and Iskander missiles. In his opinion, American planes will also not be safe in the sky, and after their destruction, the Russian military will be able to study the F-16 and develop even more advanced systems to counter Western fighters.
